1999: Loads of releases/debuts from big name bands such as Slipknot, Coal Chamber, Sevendust, etc. But where does this band fit in there? NOWHERE! Don't get me wrong, I love those bands, but this band is such a great change from the same stuff I've been listening to for ages.

Amen is a fusion of true punk mixed with ear deafening heavy metal. The attitude of the band is basically Anti-Everything, but Anti-Everything in a good sort of way, basically wanting a better place to live in without all the B.S. (angrier than Rage Against the Machine). This CD has guts. Casey Chaos is just as loud as anyone you can imagine, I can literally just picture him gasping for breath after singing a song. That's how powerful the vocals on this are. Sonny Mayo and John Fahnestock make the transition from Snot into this, and seem to make the two bands stand apart very well. The guitar work isn't exactly groundbreaking, but fits the vocals and the style of the music.

My favorite songs on here are Down Human, Coma America, When a Man Dies a Woman, Unclean, Everything is Untrue and TV Womb. If you don't have this CD, you seriously have no idea what you are missing. And it's only a matter of time before these guys break through and a bunch of people start copying them.

If you like this CD, I highly suggest "Get Some" by Snot (Sonny and John's former band) and the Step Kings.

I first heard of Amen from a British rock magazine called Rock Sound. I intstantly recognized members of one of my old favorite bands, Snot, and the band were featured on the CD, so I gave it a spin. They instantly struck me as a newer Machine Head ripoff, but after a while I noticed lots of differences between the two bands. I began to take notice and decided to check them out live. I recognized Amen at the show quickly, and it struck me that they had been around L.A. a lot, just quietly. Their set blew me away, as their hard and fast guitars screeched over the screaming Casey Chaos. After the concert had ended, I went over to the merchandising booth and picked up a copy of their self titled debut. After a few listens I found that the lyrical message was extremely political, and Casey really knew what he was talking about. The drums and bass weld together to form a fairly solid rythmn section, while the loud guitars set a fairly loud vent for Casey's anger. They are great live, one of the best concerts I've been to, so try and see them. My favorite songs here are Down Human, When A Man Dies A Woman, TV Womb, and Fevered. Amen are insane. Also look into Downset, One Minute Silence, Machine Head, and the tragically short lived Snot.

I saw Amen September 7,99 before their debut album dropped.I wasn't very receptive of them because they were opening for Slipknot,Machine Head,and Coal Chamber.I couldn't wait to see those other bands so I didn't pay much attention to them until....they blasted into the song "Coma America" in which Corey from Slipknot joined them onstage. After that crazy a$$ song I knew the rest of their album couldn't be that bad,and it isn't.This is by far the best album in my collection and I suggest that anyone even remotely interested in hardcore or metal check it out.Especially fans of bands such as Dope,V.O.D,and Machine Head.

Being a big fan of Snot I heard that some remaining member(s) joined Amen. I couldn't find the album anywhere. So eventually I ended up seeing them with Coal Chamber, Machine Head and Slipknot. I was very surprised with their preformance and soon after that, I bought the cd. The first track, which is one of my favorites, will give you a clear example of the built up anger inside these 5 amazing musicians who deserve more attention than some other bands that get a bit too much of it. You'll be surprised at the quality of their debut album!

Well there's quite a furious atmosphere to this one, a lot of rage built up in this album and its a good example of hard metal.I just failed to latch onto anything particuarly distinctive about Amen and lost interest after a while, quickly returning to Machine Head and the like. `Come America' and `No Cure for the Pure' were my two favourite tracks. But a reasonable debut from what could be a very good band, there's no doubt they can play but they need some better songs. If you like outright fast, furious, angry and extremely peed off raging metal then this could be your cup of tea.

amen is one of my all time favorite metal bands. this cd is just awesome! for metalheads unite! this is AMEN!

Amen are fast furious all power metal, with great songs such as Coma America and Everything is Untrue, this cd is one of the best debuts i have heard, buy it if you like Slipknot

These guys are amazing! On this cd you can feel the adrenaline as the pound out 14 unbelievable songs. Whether you are a fan of Punk, Hardcore, or even heavy metal-BUY this cd!-The songs are catchy-damn i can't get most of em outta my head!-so anyways go buy it now!

This is a very good cd. It is basically the re-bound of ex-Snot members after the death of frontman Lynn Strait (May he Rest is Peace, please.) This cd is really great and doesn't lack at any part. This is one of those cd's that I don't have to press the skip button while listening.

When I first heard of Amen I was really skeptical and sort of shrugged them of, but once I finally heard them I was floored. I saw the band perform on The Henry Rollins show, they performed the song `Coma America' and it really blew my mind. I hadn't heard or seen anything like that since Henry Rollins himself was in Black Flag during his glory days of hardcore punk.

The music on Amen's self titled album is loud, pissed off, fast, well played, and true. The lyrics make you think and the musician ship is among the best for this genre. Casey Chaos is easily one of the best front-men to come along in rock n' roll in a very long while, though most people have no clue who he or Amen are matters very little because those who do know who he is know exactly what I am saying.

This may not be the bands best album but it sure showed promise of things to come. This is a great starting point for anyone interested in the band. This album is worth owning for the song `Coma America' alone as it is truly one of the very best songs to come along in a very, very, very, very long time.
