1.0 out of 5 stars dead after a couple months, September 13, 2009
This review is from: Power Failure Lite (Misc.)
I picked this up from a local store. Every week or two I'd unplug the unit to vacuum. Once unplugged the light would come on, as promised. However, after only a couple months I noticed when I went to plug it back in that the light was no longer on. Now when I plug it in, the red indicator comes on saying it's charging, but the light will never come on no matter how charged it gets. I see no way to replace the bulb either (assuming that's the problem).

1.0 out of 5 stars One star because there's no zero, October 22, 2009
This review is from: Power Failure Lite (Misc.)
Don't really know how long this item actually worked because we didn't have any power outages. All I know is that I had bought two of them. When I moved one, there was no light. Checked the other and the light was out on that one too.

I visited their website and could find nothing related to this item.

There's a tiny screw at the top of the casing that, if I could get it to move, probably lets you replace the lamp. It's such a cheap screw that my computer screw driver ruined it. Both items will go to electronic recycling. I won't buy from AmerTac anymore. I wish someone would make something in the USA. I'm sick and tired of expensive Chinese junk.

They cost around $10 at Home Depot. I feel bad because I bought one for my elderly Aunt. There's nothing worse than a security item you rely on that doesn't work.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works well for me..., February 15, 2010

I bought two of these a year ago from Home Depot. They continue to work just like the day I bought them--if I pull them from the wall they turn right on. We have had some power outages and these have been handy. They have a little switch that let's them work like a flashlight...if that gets pushed then they don't turn on when the power goes out (even though they are charged)...they are actually slightly bigger than what I would really like. (So I give 4 stars not 5.) But they are very inexpensive and have worked well for me. I'm buying a couple more, actually.
