I have a bad back and after a long round of physical therapy, have started to do more walking rather than driving when I run errands. I own two smaller Ameribags, but needed slightly larger one that would hold a folder, notebook, sketchbook, or a hardbound book for when I stopped at a coffee shop or for lunchtime reading. This medium size is exactly what I wanted, and is still comfortable and "back friendly".

There are more than enough pockets and I'm still trying to figure out the best way to organize it, but I especially like the outer zippered pocket that lets me keep my wallet securely against my side so I can find it easily without having to dig through the main bag. The other velcro pocket on the opposite side makes it easy to find house keys and a cell phone too.

Additionally I appreciate the fact that the shoulder strap is long enough so that I can arrange the bag across my shoulders if it gets too heavy or for longer walks.

I purchased mine in Brick, and have gotten several compliments on the lovely, soft color. I'm hoping the canvas will be easier to clean than my other microfiber bags, which do become stained over time. If it comes out in red, turquoise or other bright colors I'll buy another in a heartbeat. I may do so anyway.

Bottom line - I think I've found my darn near perfect bag.

This a great everyday bag. Its compartments are handy and plenty. My wallet, small note pad, pen, and small journal fit PERFECTLY in the pockets. I swear its almost like they made it for me. The bag itself fits about 3 average sized books. Its oblong shape doesn't fit my sketch books very well though.

All in all I probably need the large version for my needs. But as you go up in size you go down in good colors unfortunately. I would also advise to say away from MicroFiber. Its kinda nice but feels kinda cheap. It kind a loud too. Well if things rub on it. Personally I like their high end (leather) and low end bags (canvas).

I have purchased a similar bag from this company before and therefore was sure of the quality. Normally I would use a small bag but because of travelling overseas, I decided to get the medium size so I could carry more in it. It is roomy. I love all the pockets. And it is so well designed that you don't feel the weight of the contents.

I've had my AmeriBag for a long time now. On the plus side, it's extremely well made, very durable, and I've washed it in the washer with no ill effect.

On the not-so-good side, this bag is no better than a regular purse for my back. There are two ways to use it, either slung over one arm and across the chest, in which case you have to keep switching it constantly or you'll get sore. Also, when slung this way it makes one's breasts look...err...interesting. Way too interesting to walk down the street feeling confident, for example.

Or, you can hang it on your shoulder like a regular purse. No matter how short I put the strap, the bag flops around and hangs outward from my body, so I have to hunch up my shoulder to keep it on.

Perhaps I simply have the wrong body for this bag, but I'm trying a backpack-style purse next.

I bought a medium-sized AmeriBag bag because i've hurt my back a couple times recently with my traditional backpack. The bag was great for my back since it put almost no weight there.

However, all of the weight was placed on one shoulder, and it was just too much. I don't think I carry all that much stuff around with me (a book, PDA, cell phone, wallet, mini umbrella, a couple pens, sunglasses, some ibuprofen, and the like). The heaviest individual item i have at any given time is usually my book.

Unfortunately, the AmeriBag wasn't quite up to the task. I'm going to have to go back to a traditional two-shouldered backpack and will hopefully be able to find an ergonomic one. My shoulders just can't handle the AmeriBag!

If you carry very little around, the AmeriBag will probably work out well for you.

The local store wanted twice the amount of this purchase for this bag. This bag is roomy, it has several pockets, it slides over your shoulder, or over your head to cross your body rather easily. I do not have problems with my back, I just wanted a nice backpack type of purse without the double straps as I don't use both straps on a backpack either. You can not go wrong with this purse, it is the most spacious bag.

I bought this bag for an upcoming trip in February, but decided to try it out before I left by using it as my everyday bag now. I certainly can get a lot of things in it. I believe it will serve my purpose for my trip as I would like to take my eReader and my ipod with me, along with some needlework. All that should fit into the space just fine. I just have to remember to pull the main zipper up to the top of the bag so everything won't dump out when I put it down. I am still getting used to where I keep things in this bag and because of all the pockets for organization I tend to forget where things are. Hopefully by the time I leave I'll have everything where I want it. I have wanted an Ameribag for a long time and this one fits the bill, along with being a very nice color. FREE SHIPPING also helped. It's a fine bag and the price was GREAT!

I have wanted/needed one of these for years, but could never make myself spend the money on one, considering our tight budget. I finally did, and for those with back pain, I would recommend getting this bag if you can. It takes a little getting used to, and it can be a little awkward to take things in or out without a table or counter to rest the bag on, but the relief of pain is worth it. I love the "balanced" feel of it as I walk. I also like that the zipper that protects the majority of the contents rests directly against my back, making it a bit more theft-resistant than most bags. I only wish that I could have afforded the leather version, which would be easier to keep clean and in my case would probably last me the rest of my life! (I am not a handbag and shoes collecter, so I try to buy the best item I can and use it for many years). Buy it and get some relief for your aching back.

i absolutly love this as a purse. It has tons of pockets on the inside and outside. One of the best decisions I have ever made.
