The Ameriglide is a scaled down version of the Summit Stair Lift. Summit makes this stair lift for Ameriglide. This model is similar to the TK Access Silver Glide that was discontinued a number of years ago.
The advantages of this stair lift is that it is robust, strong and quite reliable. It is also quite basic and thereby easily fixed. No circuit boards or fancy electronics.
The disadvantages is that it does not have many of the features that the stair lift user may need for their specific application and needs. The seat height is not adjustable, the track is quite wide and aesthetically it is quite basic looking.
If someone is handy, this lift could be self installed since the track comes cut to fit your stairs. However, if you have troubles lifting heavy objects, do not have a basic understanding of mechanical devices and are not able to follow instructions then self installation would not be a good option.
The other key factor is how professional is the on line vendor in after sale installation and service assistance. The ideal situation is to have a local vendor that can support your lift after purchase. Having said that, this lift is perhaps the easiest to install and has the fewest after sales service issues.
The ideal situation if you are stuck on self installation is to purchase from a company that you do not feel pressured to buy. Call a few of their previous customers or call the manufacturer and ask who best supports the lift after the sale. The manufacturer of the Ameriglide stair lift is Summit Lifts and you will find their site by searching google.
