Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Grade 3-5-A colorful history showing how the game has evolved over the years. The book consists of a hodgepodge of trivia and questions (with answers in the back), only slightly organized around chapters such as "Playing the Game" and "Cheering the Game." The section on "Heroes of the Game" does not go into any personality in depth. The Negro League and admission of girls into the Little League in the 1970s are mentioned. There is no index. The black-and-white and full-color photographs and reproductions are of high quality. However, libraries that own James Kelley's Baseball (DK, 2000), which covers baseball history in a more organized manner, will not need Rosenthal's title.
