Funkin' For Brasil, July 2, 2008

I am a huge Seu Jorge fan and therefore, I am very biased. Seu Jorge can do no wrong with that deep raspy-velvet voice, that charisma, and that acutely attuned sense of the world and its music...he is "dude extraordinaire." Seu Jorge does everything right on his new cd, America Brasil O Disco which is energized by strong funky sambas, totally playful and joyous in his own style, while respecting tradition. My special Seu Jorge anthem is Mina Do Condomino, and with all the makings of an extended jam that could go all night...maybe a few days...this infectious track has got to be way off the hook when experienced live. When you need a little break from the excitement, you can sit back and float with a couple of sweet softer tracks like Cuidar De Mim, and Mariana. Creative touch with the harmonica and violin add to this super pleasant production.
