5.0 out of 5 stars AMERICA live !!!
This DVD was taken from a live show in Germany in 1999. It features many fabulous songs never recorded live such as THREE ROSES, LAST UNICORN, WHEELS, FROM A MOVING TRAIN. All in all the production is excellent & the sound is the very best. Most of all it is a record of the exploits of one of the world's finest & most enduring musical groups. Over 20 LP's recorded. 1.0 out of 5 stars Don't Waste Your Money!
The only good thing about this turkey (and why I have even given it one star)is due to the video, because the audio is awful! It is as if microphones were set up in different parts of the venue in order to capture the audio.
Do not,I repeat,do not waste your money. (I hope that Gerry, and Dewey have not watched this turkey)

Recently attended the America concert at Stone Mountain GA and this DVD performance brought it all back. They maintained the same band members for YEARS and they sound tight. Gerry and Dewey are in Prime voice. To hear Last Unicorn and From a Moving Train live...well worth the purchase. The rest of the solid gold nuggets just add more glisten to this DVD. Goes without saying...it is a must for America fans. Again, just like being there! Thanks to the boys, once again for signing my guitar. Can't wait for the Christmas CD!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars 1999 German Performance, July 30, 2006
This review is from: America - In Concert (DVD)
This recording was originally released in Europe as a bootleg in 1999, which might explain some of the less than adequate video production. It was then officially released a few years later in Europe and now in the US. It was recorded soon after the release of their "Human Nature" CD and includes several songs from that CD that they rarely perform anymore including "From A Moving Train" (which was a big hit in Europe), "Pages", and "Wheels Are Turning." It also inculdes "The Last Unicorn" which was a hit in Germany in the early 1980s. It is a good performance and here is the playlist:

Riverside

Ventura Highway

You Can Do Magic

Daisy Jane

Three Roses

Pages

Wheels Are Turning

Tin Man

Only In Your Heart

Lonely People

The Last Unicorn

From A Moving Train

Sandman

Sister Golden Hair

A Horse With No Name

4.0 out of 5 stars America-In Concert-Germany, July 25, 2006
This review is from: America - In Concert (DVD)
This is a very good show with America, it has several songs not played in concert in the States. Most all of their well known hits are on here and the camera work is good, lots of close ups of Dewey and Gerry. The show is only them singing, no announcer, and no breaks,.....each song is announced by a line across the bottom of the screen. A great gift for any America fan!

While the audio in this DVD is not perfect, it is a 100 times better than the 1979 "Live in central park" that came out 08/2005. The audio on that turkey is weak, tiny and distant.

This show is pretty good with the best audio you will find until America does a dedicated show for DVD release.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Most Enjoyable Concert, February 27, 2005

If you like the special melodies, harmonies, rhythms and creative lyrics of America, you will enjoy seeing and hearing this popular group in a live concert setting with an appreciative audience. I hesitated to buy this DVD after reading some of the negative review comments about the sound. I have played it on a good sound system and on a fair one. The sound of the voices and all the instruments except the bass are clear and perfectly acceptable when played on the fair system, pretty much replicating what you might actually hear in a live setting with somewhat random acoustics. On a good system, the voices are a little fuller, and the bass level is strong. In my opinion, it's not one of the all-time great concerts, but it is a very good one and I will continue to enjoy it with repeated viewings. I believe most fans of the group would find it entertaining and worth the price. I only wish they'd had time to add a few more of their classics.

1.0 out of 5 stars America should be ashamed with this production, October 17, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: America - In Concert (DVD)
I was excited to finally get America's latest DVD. I was expecting nothing but the best. Instead I watched a half baked version with a poor audience. Production quality not up to par. I expect much better from these guys.

In the over 70 concerts that I own. I have only been disappointed twice. Eric Burdon and now America!

Please make another attempt for all your fans.

4.0 out of 5 stars Breezy rock that hooks you in and then won't let go, January 9, 2007

Recorded in June, 1999, I really enjoy this DVD. For openers, one of their signature songs "Riverside" just grabs you with that classic America guitar "army" feel and the pure vocals along the way are -- yes -- still there. The rest of the DVD is gravy, no disappointments along the way but only pleasant surprises. Just when you think they run out of hit songs toward the end of the show they trot out another one and then another -- just a reminder of how prolific they were in the early '70s -- and great song writers.

The video and audio quality is above average for concert DVDs.
