Listen closely and you won't miss too much., January 21, 1999
This review is from: America Eats It's Own Young (Audio CD)
I've listened to this album countless times and everytime I find something that amazes me. Given the time that this was originally released, some of the sounds being created may only be explainable through the space-age manner of thought that followed with Parliament. The first track is the most amazing to me. With several (suprisingly well fitting) changes, we hear a little blues, a little soul, a little techno (and you gotta listen deep in the first section to know what I'm talking about,) and a whole lotta funk. Then there's of course "Joyful Process" which we've all heard a piece of on countless hip-hop classics, but it's still the only song that can get me to sing a hymn. "Balance" is the best psychodelic rock song ever written. And "Biological Speculation" is just the most comfortable music I can recall, with some of the most disturbing lyrics. I can't keep going or I won't stop. Just pick up a copy, or ask your mama if she's got one hidden.

this is a strong Album that speaks Volumes about Life In America. The Music covers a wide Spectrum but the feel&tone is Very Black.alot of Pride&Soul.this Album pulls no Strings about what is Going on.Albums Like This one is Ground-Breaking.George Clinton&crew were 20 years ahead of the curve. This Takes James Brown's Say it Loud I'm Black&Proud one step higher.
