Biography

America was a light folk-rock act of the early '70s who had several Top Ten hits, including the number ones "A Horse with No Name" and "Sister Golden Hair." Vocalists/guitarists Dewey Bunnell, Dan Peek, and Gerry Beckley met while they were still in high school in the late '60s; all three were sons of U.S. Air Force officers who were stationed in the U.K. After they ... This is a recording of a 2005 concert of America, Stephen Bishop, and Andrew Gold. It includes performances of several songs that were hits in the 1970's including "Thank You for Being a Friend" and "Lonely Boy" by Gold, Bishop's "On and On" and "Save It for a Rainy Day", and America's "Ventura Highway", "I Need You", "Sister Golden Hair", and "Horse with No Name". It also includes a rare performance of the 1970's album classic "Baby It's Up to You". If you are a fan of these performers or 1970's music, you will probably enjoy this performance.

If you like America's music, you should give America's new CD "Here & Now" a listen. Despite what the previous reviewer said, this new release by America is as good as anything they released during their heyday in the 1970s!

The three performers: Andrew Gold, Stephen Bishop, and America (the headliners here), are individual favorites of mine. The problem with a live recording of multiple artists is that you get 'highlights' of their repertoire. The late Andrew Gold provides the requisite "Thank You for Being a Friend", "Lonely Boy", and 2 other offerings. The same can be said for Stephen Bishop: his hits are here, but not much else. America, only performs 6 songs, with "Three Roses" being an outstanding highlight. A concert like this, similar to an oldies review, offers only a cursory look at these splendid artists. For example, I recently saw America open up for Michael McDonald, playing only for a half-hour. I believe the consumer would be better served by buying solo albums from Messers. Gold, Bishop, and of course, America.

Hello,

The performance was ok but not up to their past records.

If you are considering buying America's new cd's I would suggest you save your money.

It would be better spent on their older(original) versions if you do not have these.

I have also listened to the Grand Caiman CD and it is also not up to the older versions.

I will stick to the older and better material.

It is a shame since I was hoping for more from this group.

Newer is not always better.
