Editorial Reviews

At the end of the summer of 1979, renowned Austrailian documentary film maker Peter Clifton traveled to New York to film the final concert of America’s world tour. Chronicling the only time that America has been captured on film, ‘Live in Central Park’ not only provides essential viewing of arguably one of the greatest hit songwriting teams performing at their best, it also captures quintessential scenes of New York and California in the late 70’s, taking you on an extraordinary journey.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fun video to watch for nostalgic reasons!!, March 9, 2006

I enjoyed the video for the music (audio is out of whack) and the scenes of 1970's New York!! Brought back alot of memories!! Unless you are a fan of America i wouldn't recommend this video for its audio quality. But all in all... a fun video if you want to relive your youth!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Good video but awful tiny audio!, August 6, 2005

Somebody tell me if I got a defective copy because all of the audio tracks are awful! The show is very well filmed but the sound is tiny. No matter what I did to my amp in terms of volume and equalization, the sound was small and distant. Turning it up did not make it any better. The crowd noises were almost louder than the band and the drums are almost non-existent. Stick with the 1999 German "America in concert" DVD, that has much, much better audio.

Skip this, I don't know what audio remixing they did to this.

5.0 out of 5 stars AMERICA live, fabulous, June 29, 2005

This is a fabulous concert done by AMERICA in 1979 not long after their transition to a duel. The songs are magnificent & the energy unlimited. They still had their long hair which was soon to be cut as the 80's approached. HORSE WITH NO NAME, SISTER GOLDEN HAIR, TIN MAN, DAISY JANE are just some of the carefully woven songs that are played. GERRY articulates as no one else can do in songs such as ANOTHER TRY, I NEED YOU & HERE, on piano or on the 12 string guitar. DEWEY sings his heart out on VENTURA HIGHWAY, TIN MAN, SANDMAN as well as on the mega hit, HORSE WITH NO NAME. GERRY BECKLEY & DEWEY BUNNELL shine brighter than the nearest star.
