I'm not a huge fan of America but I like several of their songs. The good part of this DVD is that it includes all of America's "big" songs up until 1979. The bad part of it is the directing and camera work. The director spent too much time panning the audience, showing people roller skating in Central Park, showing the stage from far off and a number of other distractions while America was playing. If I wanted to see that I'd go to the park myself. Nevertheless, it is worth getting if you like America since it was filmed in 1979 (of historical significance) and they do show America doing many of their hits with close-ups of the band.

No, Danny Peek is not with them, but this, in my opinion, is the best concert video of America presently available. It is in 5.1 Digital, but doesn't really add much to the quality of sound. I have seen America at least 7 times in Concert and i would rank this as #3 as the best of their concerts, from the standpoint of energy and showmanship. They have had better playlists, would have like to have heard "Riverside", "California Revisited", and "To Each His Own", but all in all a good set. "Sandman" is just awesome, never wanted the song to end. For the money, an excellent buy. as always, Amazon delivers timely and as offered.

I really enjoyed this dvd of Americas concert in Central Park in 79. It sounds really good although I would have liked it better if all the filming of the songs was on Dewey and Gerry. I did like the intro for Tin Man though really gives you the feeling of 1979 in New York. All in all I think this is a great buy just for the fact it is America in concert and they sound excellent!

It's hard to believe so many years have passed since this concert and we've all changed so much, but America is still "cranking" out concerts today. About 8 or so years ago ,I had the priviledge of seeing them at a county sponsored event in town and was amazed how good they still are after playing for so long. They sounded as good as they did back in the early 70's when I first heard them. Some groups play past their "prime", but that doesn't apply here. It goes to show the vast talent this group has and continues to have. This is a "must have" for any America fan. If you have a good sound system backing up your TV, then you'll get the most out of this DVD since it was recorded outside.

This DVD is more of a "meet New York concert goers" documentary than a celebration of America's music. The recording quality is poor and much of the video is spent filming the locals at Central Park. I do not recommend this one.

This is one of my favorite concerts. They really put on a great show. There are brief parts showing NY in 79, brings back a lot of memories. A must for any library.
