This review is from: America Remembers (Audio CD)
"America Remembers" is the latest by the Rascher-school classical saxophonist, Lawrence Gwozdz. This time though, he's conducting a large ensemble of his excellent students, rather than himself playing. I strongly recommend all of Gwozdz's CDs, including this one. Many people, both classical enthusiasts and not, find it hard to imagine the saxophone as a classical instrument. This CD and all of Dr. Gwozdz's other CDs will definitely change that opinion.

4.0 out of 5 stars One of the best Saxophone Orchestra CD's out there today., March 1, 2002

Don't be fooled. The Sax-Chamber Orchestra may be a college group, but the artistry and grace displayed in this CD is hard to match. Highlights of the CD include the Symphony for 11 Saxophones by Stephen Dankner (a piece written for the SCO), the Hartley Music for 12 Saxophones, and the Taggart Lament and Credo. The CD ends in a rousing fashion with an arrangement of Charles Ives' Variations on America. I recommend this CD to any lover of music, and especially any serious saxophone player.
