The final chapter in America's return to greatness.,
By
This review is from: AMERICA REBORN: Book Three of the Clash-of-Civilizations Trilogy (Paperback)
Islamic terrorists destroyed five US cities in THE RINGS OF ALLAH. In BEHOLD AN AHSEN HORSE President Alexander brings the US back from nuclear disaster and strikes hard, unleashing the full power of the US military and bringing vengeance upon those who struck her. Now, in AMERICA REBORN, Alexander sets out to finish what he began in ASHEN HORSE, the complete eradication of Islam from the world!
To accomplish this, he uses all the military forces at his disposal. B-52's destroy Islamic strongholds from the air, while US Army Rangers bring the fight to the enemy. As this unfolds, Alexander must deal with two domestic crises as well. Liberal state governors challenge his authority and his military policies, while Mexican drug cartels attempt to invade the southern US. Alexander uses his intellectual prowess and his military command authority in both cases as he pushes towards his vision of a safe, secure United States, free from terrorism and drug-related violence. Lee Boyland does not disappoint in this, the third in his Clash of Civilizations trilogy. Once again the action is fast and vivid, keeping the reader engaged and making this book difficult to put down. Though more politically charged than either of the first two books, President Alexander's personality and character make even the non-military moments meaningful and enjoyable to the reader. My favorite part of this book (and indeed the entire trilogy), is the way that, in addition to being extremely entertaining, it makes the reader think about political and military issues relevant to our current world order. Overall, this book was an excellent close-out to a very well written and professionally done series. Too bad it's only a trilogy! Highly recommended by fans of the techno-thriller or military genre.

A Colossal Novel !,
This review is from: AMERICA REBORN: Book Three of the Clash-of-Civilizations Trilogy (Paperback)
No surprise here from Lee Boyland, he did it again! Lee wove foreign and domestic intrigue into a colossal novel with a fast pace read . Every chapter presented an exciting spell binding entrance into the realm of terrorism and its aftermath.
He demonstrates how an ordinary man can rise to the occassion and become extraordinary . Lee also shows that government need not be complicated using common sense approaches in problem solving . Every politician should read this ! What a movie this and all his novels would make.I hope to see this happen. A huge fan , Fran Gilbert

Fast-Moving and Entertaining!,

This review is from: AMERICA REBORN: Book Three of the Clash-of-Civilizations Trilogy (Paperback)
No one writes a better novel of intrigue and Islamic intention than Military Society of America award-winning author Lee Boyland and his wife Vista. No only is their technical knowledge deep and wide, but so is their storytelling ability. Within the pages of the well-crafted "America Reborn," we find ourselves engrossed with fictional, yet present-day, historically accurate characters. I cringed with the truth of reality in this honest portrayal the Boylands give us of our country's greatest enemies, Islamic terrorists. Yet, the story is fast-moving, entertaining, and a great read. Buy this book for your friends and relatives and ask them to do the same, to wake up our country to the dangers we face at the hands of Islamic extremists.

The Right Way to Fight a War,
This review is from: AMERICA REBORN: Book Three of the Clash-of-Civilizations Trilogy (Paperback)
First, a word about the rating system, which I have borrowed from Alice Wakefield.
From now on, I will strive to keep the ratings meaningful and use them sparingly. * 5 stars are reserved for work that reaches the level of a Steinbeck, Mark Twain, etc. * 4 stars from me is very high praise, meaning outstanding & highly recommended. * 3 stars means I enjoyed the book and recommend it, with some reservations. ____________________________ America Reborn is the third novel in the "Clash of Civilizations Trilogy". The first novel is "The Rings of Allah" and the second "Behold, an Ashen Horse" (great title). The United States has been attacked by Islamic Extremists showing 9/11 as a possible preview of worse things to come. Five nuclear devices have destroyed five American cities and killed millions--Washington D.C. is one of the five cities and most of the government is gone. The trilogy was written by author and wife team, Lee and Vista Boyland. Lee has a degree in Nuclear Engineering and is a weapons expert. His knowledge rings true and readers are witness to what America's military is capable of when unleashed. Considering the state of affairs in the Middle East, this is something that may be long overdue. Too bad it only takes place in books. I read Tom Clancy's work once-upon-a-time, and when his work was passed off to someone else to write, I lost interest. Reading "America Reborn" was a blast (pun intended) and the Boylands brought back the energy Clancy lost. At first, I wasn't sure if the Boylands weren't using their novels as a soapbox against so-called "liberals" (a catchall stereotype that only exists in the minds of Rush Limbaugh ditto heads and Tea Bag people). The truth is, even in World War II, when America was fighting for survival against Hitler's Nazis and Japan, there was a movement in the United States to get out of that war early--back before the the word "liberal" had been invented and used as a scapegoat for everything that goes wrong in America. In the first half of "America Reborn", the "liberal" term was tossed around like popped corn labeling characters that fit the stereotype. The fact that the Boylands used the term as they did is evidence of the impact the conservative media machine has had on Americans. Come on, even stereotypical "liberals" don't all look like slobs and act like snobs. I've known far right conservatives that also fit that image. Other than this minor "liberal" glitch, the story was well written with plenty of action using high tech weaponry--something the United States has developed far ahead of the rest of the world. The American military has the ability to kill millions while losing thousands and that is without using nuclear weapons. An example would be the Vietnam War (which the United States lost) where America suffered 58,193 military deaths and the North Vietnamese and Vietcong losses are estimated at over 1.3 million. In "America Reborn", George Alexander, the newly unelected, statuary president is my kind of guy and he knows how to fight. If Islamic terrorists did nuke Washington D.C. and obliterate our elected government, we can only hope that a man like Alexander is waiting in the wings, and he is not modeled after Dick Cheney, who fumbled the second Iraq War. Aside from a few typos, the editing was pretty clean. Fictional President George Alexander is likable and efficient. He's so good, he destroys the Latin drug cartels and deals with America's drug problems. I don't think he would shoot anyone by accident while on a hunting trip. I recommend this trilogy to everyone who liked the old Clancy.

Received this book after New Yesrs ended up in hospital and could not put the book down. I have about thirty pages left and I am dreading looking for another book, It was great, spell binding and makes you wonder if there is really a President out there with the guts to do what was being done in this book. My thoughts about was has been done is what I would love to see. I have all the series of Lee Boyland books ands I will read them again to get this feeling of overwellming delight and wonderment again. Already have told at least two people about the book and they have ordered it. If you like action and edge of the seat I'd recommend the series keeping in mind the first book is technical and kind of loses you here and there but ties it all in later. Great job Mr. Boyland.

To put it simply, if you read and enjoyed, "Behold, an Ashen Horse", you will enjoy this book as well. It takes up where "Ashen Horse" left off. I hope Mr. Boyland will continue the story. There is a lot left to be done. Great read for enthusiasts of military adventure on a grand scale!

I enjoyed "Behold, an Ashen Horse" for its exploration of a war against Islam itself, but was disappointed by this continuation of that story. The author clearly hates liberals, and their particular world-views, and serves them up to cliche humiliation throughout. It was evident in "Ashen Horse" but really over the top in "America Reborn".Conservatives are portrayed as clear minded and thoughtful, while liberals are devious, shrill and pathetic. There's really no subtlety in the author's characters. They've become caricatures of the worst that FOX NEWS has to offer in the real world. Fans of Glenn Beck & Rush Limbaugh... you will love this book. Others might find it tough to finish. I do recommend "Behold, an Ashen Horse", however, as a stand-alone story.

I really enjoyed the first two books in this trilogy. This third book, it was almost painful to read, it was as if a really bad TV comedy show decided to massively lampoon both the left and the right and take to absolute extreme levels the stereotyping of both, in speech and behavior. I should have stopped at the second book... |
