A Gem of a Book,
By Mother of Five (Out West) - See all my reviews
This review is from: American Adventures: True Stories from America's Past, 1770-1870 (Paperback)
I am enjoying reading these stories aloud to my children. They each contain very interesting and sometimes not well known facts, which contribute to the enjoyment of the story. At the conclusion of each adventure, there are activities one can engage in: writing/journal, independent activities, and group discussions/activities. There is aslo a mini time line included with each story, as well as a paragraph describing what else was happening at the time. I believe the kids get more out of the stories when we read and discuss them together, as opposed to giving them a chapter to read individually.

American Adventures #1,
By Aubrey Harter (Tucson, AZ) - See all my reviews
This review is from: American Adventures: True Stories from America's Past, 1770-1870 (Paperback)
This was a great book of 15 different and exciting stories about America's past, prior to 1870. I enjoyed the writing and discussion activities for each story, helping me to comprehend more of the past.
