5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely AMAZING rock music from this gifted band!
LUXT is a truly amazing group of talent rolled into one band. I just cannot believe they are not more popular than they are, though they have opened for such groups as Godsmack, System of a Down, Rammstein, Puddle of Mudd, Saliva, Papa Roach, Audiovent, and Alien Ant Farm. Their live shows have absolutely INCREDIBLE energy, and their sound is as clear onstage as it is...

3.0 out of 5 stars they have done better but still worth an occasional listening
luxt has comeout with better cd's in the past but this is still worth getting if ur any kind of fan of the band. some of the highlights are: american beast, suck it down, cease and jitter. The last couple of tracks are interesting but not so much a good thing. there is an acoustic song which should have been left off the cd cuz it throws off the whole structure.if u are new...

Their live shows have absolutely INCREDIBLE energy, and their sound is as clear onstage as it is on their CD's. Totally fresh and unique, evolving with each new CD, but retaining the disturbingly poetic lyrics found throughout their collections. (How lovely it would be to smash your head against the pavement; how lovely if you felt the way I do; how lovely it would make me squeal to hear you scream and slobber; how lovely it would be to f*** you like you f***ed me over)
The combination of Anna Christine's crystalline voice (whether singing sweetly or growling aggressively) with Erie Loch's hard-hitting, Wayne-Static'ish vocals make for an auditory melding that is distinctive in today's rock industry.

You absolutely must give this band a listen, and if you are a fan of REAL ROCK you will most definitely be impressed, more than likely enough to pick up a copy of American Beast. Check out their previous releases too, worth the search in used CD stores. Disrepair, Razing Eden, and especially Chromosex Monkeydrive.

My favorite songs on American Beast are American Beast, How Lovely, Life is Pain, and Suck It Down.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shame this group broke up., October 17, 2011
This review is from: American Beast (Audio CD)
This was a great rock group, it had everything it took. They had the great intensity that rock music should have without a single mundane moment and even did a great job at slower songs, as well. Anna Christine was and is a true talent, vocally, but so are the other members.

3.0 out of 5 stars Every Luxt Album Reinvents Their Style, July 14, 2004
This review is from: American Beast (Audio CD)
Yet they try too hard on this album. Don't get me wrong, I love the band to death, but they've turned their classics Nerve, Life is Pain, American Beast, + Suck it Down into nu-metal songs that don't sound...Luxt-ish, so it takes a little while to get used to. They have live drums as opposed to the (good/better) synthesized percussion they used to have, and their guitars are more "heavy-metal." It's an ok album, nothing like how the original songs on this cd were tho.

4.0 out of 5 stars break away in style, April 25, 2004

this album is a new direction stylistically for luxt, and quite a break from their previous album. they've seemed to have a found a style that works well for them and it sounds pretty damn good to me. i love the double vocals that anna and erie are known for and the new complexities to their music in american beast. only reason it's not a five star for me i very much preferred the orignal version of the song american beast and don't care for the album version nearly as much.

5.0 out of 5 stars Different, January 24, 2003
By
This review is from: American Beast (Audio CD)
Quite different fom other Luxt cd's, ecspecially compared with the awesome disrepair and jezabel 13.3. After Razin Eden and ecspecially Chromasex Luxt seemed to be evolving into a generic band (not to say Chromasex was bad, had some very good songs (fiend, no turning back etc.) but the cd on the overall was not nearly as good as their early work). Luxt istead of following the trend they were on made themselves a new unique sound. American Beast is without a doubt more mainstream, but not to the point you would confuse it with anything else. The songs are well written, and production is awesome. Fast songs like Mary Megladon and mellower songs like cease ecspecially show luxt conquering new grounds. The band put a lot of time into this album and it shows. Luxt fans may find this release different than previous releases but should not be dissapointed none the less. And to those new luxt, this album may a great intro to a truly talented band.
