2.0 out of 5 stars No noticable improvement
I saw absolutely no improvement over the several months that I gave this product to my arthritic dog. I am very disappointed and would not recommend this product to anyone. She actually got better when I stopped giving her this product and made changes to her diet (I decided to remove grains from her diet and this has helped a lot!).

Our 14 year old sheltie has been having mobility problems for a few years now. It is probably due to arthritis, but she was born with small bone structure, which may have something to do with it. She doesn't have the thick legs and joints of your average herding dog. We put her on a product called FlexPet ([...]) for quite a while, which had fair results in the beginning, but later our sheltie would just lay around because she could not comfortably get up.
When she started to struggle even though we were giving her the FlexPet, we decided to change what we were giving her. We remembered that there was another tablet that we had read about in "The Whole Dog Journal", a monthly journal dedicated to the health and well-being of canines. After going through back issues that we have archived, we found the article in the May 2006 issue about American BioSciences DGP and decided to try it. The issue of "WDJ" can be found at the DGP website: [...] . We have had our sheltie on DGP now for about three months now and she is getting around better than she has in years. She jumps on and off the couch now, which is something that she hasn't been able to do in about 4 or 5 years (not for a lack of trying).
The FlexPet didn't work for us, but that's not to say that it won't work for other dogs. Different dogs may have drastically different reactions to the same remedy. In our case, the first supplement that we had our sheltie on worked for a while, but then stopped working. Other dogs do very well on the same supplement. When the first stopped working, we switched to this DGP and, so far, we have had extraordinary results. Hopefully the same thing will not happen with this supplement and our sheltie will continue to be full of energy and life.

I'm always skeptical of product endorsements, but my 12-yr old weimeraner was totally out of sorts. Decided to give this a try. Trust me - within ONE WEEK, I couldn't believe how long it had been since he had shown signs of life (like a tail wag). It's now been a month, and he's back to his old scoundral self. Absolutely AMAZING. I don't know how this stuff works, but my dog and I thank you. TOTAL 360 DEGREE TURNAROUND.

I have a large dog, about 10 years old, who has had congenital hip problems for a long time. He's usually fine in the morning, but gets stiff as the day goes along. After we started him on this, he's been doing much better, throughout the day, and he's more frisky on his morning walks. I'd highly recommend this to anyone who has a dog with chronic joint problems.

I am not the type that usually becomes a walking testimonial but you should see my old lab. She had developed back hip issues and had stopped jumping up onto bed and stairs were getting difficult. Her face had the look the pain. After just a week, she is jumping into bed at night, going downstairs with us, and romping in the backyard. Amazing stuff!

It's comforting to know that this product is not filled with drugs and still is very effective in mobility and pain reduction.

5.0 out of 5 stars Boxer with Brain Tumor, September 4, 2011

Our 12 year old boxer was in great pain after she permanently injured her back. The vets wanted us to use NSAIDS (Duramaxx in particulair) to manage her pain. After a few days of duramaxx we decided to go the holistic approach due to the side effects (liver and kidney failure) and our dog wasn't getting any better. The fact is that duramaxx seemed to work for pain or at least allow our boxer to sleep for a few hours. This didn't last long. We then put her on DGP and we could immediately tell it had an impact. It seemed to work better than the Duramaxx for the first few weeks then seemed to level off. With DGP our dog started walking again without pain when it wore off. This did not happen with the Duramaxx.

This is what we experienced firsthand: DGP seemed to be safer and was more effective long term (seemed to cure the problem). For very sharp pain it did take longer to work than Duramaxx becuase it has to build up in the bloodstream, and did not seem to be quite as effective for very sharp pain short term. DGP was so effective both of our vets took notes and wrote it down. While it might not cure your dogs ailment it will help your dog deal with the pain. It is also cheaper, safer, and in our opinion more effective long term. Doctors/Vets do not have a cure for back problems, they only have a pain management solutions with toxic drugs. Do yourself a favor and try this you will be glad you did.

After 1.5 bottles of DGP we no longer give our boxer DGP because the pain is gone. We think that if we stayed with Duramaxx she would still be dependent on it. We tried DGP because we read these reviews. We are so glad we did!

5.0 out of 5 stars impressive product, June 2, 2011

My Grandpuppy (English Springer Spaniel) was diagnosed with lymes disease from a tick bite several years ago. The one and only tick she has ever had!
This dog loves to run and play fetch with her tennis ball. After a day of activity she had trouble getting up and would cry when she even moved about. I saw the advertisments for DGP and thought it might be worth a try. I have been so impressed with the results! She runs, jumps in the lake, plays ball for long periods of time and just overall seems to feel better. I would highly recommend this product.

My 17 year old cat suffers from very bad arthritis. Since we have given him DGP he is much more active and is visibly in less pain. We just crush up the tables and mix with his food and he doesn't even notice it. I don't know what the secret sauce in DGP is, but it is great. He plays now and has so much more energy. Highly recommend it for any Senior Citizen Cat.
