I shopped hard for a blacklight because I believe it will be something rarely used, but when it is used, I wanted it be be working well. So good and inexpensive were my hot buttons. It's not for decor, it's to look for kitty pee on the carpets. One of our cats was ill recently and I wanted to be sure we got everything cleaned up. If you do want it for decorating purposes, it throws quite a light.

The blacklight arrived very well packaged and with no damages. In 5 minutes I had it set up, doused the lights, and looked. This baby uncovers a whole 'nother world. The cat accidents were readily apparent... as were some other odd spots. I need to go look up what blacklights reveal because some of what I saw wasn't cat product- for example, there was a fine spread-out glow on the floor under where one of our family members often eats snacks!

But for stalking kitty pee, this was wonderful. I had slips of paper in my hand and laid them across the spots to mark them, then turned the regular lights back on to work on them with paper towels and Woolite carpet spray for pets. Went back and forth this way a few times until everything came up clean. The light's now in the basement, ready for -heaven forbid- the next time it's needed.

this black light is awsome it brights all my little room (5 meters x 7 meters). I got a friend (neighbor) that has the same dimensions of his room and he needs 2 blacklights to fill the ilumination of the room. this is a great product

Terrific little blacklight, and with very little buzz. In the same room I also have a 48" BL from a local shop, but it buzzes terribly (a screeching 19 kHz tone).

Very compact, and due to recent discoveries about the workmanship of some previously hammered nails, I've also discovered that this beast holds up to several drops from about 5 feet*.

Ordered one. Arrived with bulb intact but fluorescent ballast was faulty. Called Sam Ash (where it actually comes from) and they said they would sent another no charge - keep the first one, too difficult to ship back. Had to call back three times to receive the replacement. Finally arrived (Sam Ash was great about the problem with the order. Took too long, but they took responsibility.) Second finally arrived - with broken bulb. These T-8 bulbs are VERY hard to find for individual sale, and expensive. Rather than risk sending a third, Sam Ash refunded my purchase and told me to keep both defective units. I replaced the T8 ballast in the one and converted the second to a T-12 bulb and ballast for about $25 bucks. I now have two working units. Here's a better idea though: Go to Home Depot. Buy a cheap T12 fluorescent fixture and a T12 fluorescent bulb. Together maybe $20-$35 depending on the fixture you select. T12 bulbs are commonplace.

It came with cardboard around the light tube, and bubble wrap all over everything else, came spotless out of the box and worked when I hit the on switch, makes my poster glow, and has been working flawlessly kept on for a few days now, also it got here fast.

For the price it's a no brainer'.

It arrived in working condition, worked perfectly when I tried it right out of the package, then when i flipped the switch back on 3 hours later....it stopped working. I tried taking the bulb out, new plug, flipping bulb, readjusting, all sorts of stuff. Its not working. I think my bulb already burnt itself out. A terrible product.

I bought two of these blacklights, and I have a very large living room, and they worked perfectly! They are super strong, and they are a great addition to a late night dance party! These are the best black lights, most definitely worth your $$$ !

I bought two of these because of how cheap they are. I also got two 18" from another company. Let me tell you there is a huge difference in spending 10 more bucks for the 18's. One fixture still works but the second one crapped out on me. I'm an electrician and solving the problem was easy. The switch is actually decent. The ballast is terrible. Its mounted on the front side of the blacklight. The only access point to the black lights are from the sides(two screws) The side the where the ballast is has rivets punched in. Making it impossible to replace!!! Don't buy

Had a bit of a SNAFU with the first one I ordered - plugged it in, flickered for a second and then burned out. Amazon was extremely accommodating, however, and sent a replacement right away...which worked well for hours on end during Halloween. The packaging could have been better, maybe some bubble wrap. All that was protecting the bulb was a flimsy piece of cardboard. Can't really complain though - the price is the best I've found for this size blacklight! Good product overall!

I ordered two and they both came safely. I'm VERY pleased with this product and it's shipping time.I highly recommend it.
