I can not imagine ANYONE going on vacation to Vegas, and not having this book tucked into their carry-on luggage!!
Plenty of info to read on the plane about each casino, including what times the Bellagio Fountains go off, the Mirage volcano, etc, etc.
Information in the book about how to play different types of table and casino games (Keno, craps, etc).
The coupons alone make this book invaluable. My favorite? - The two-for-one coupon at the Silverton Casino (Blue Diamond Rd and I-15 in Las Vegas). Friday night is their fantastic seafood buffet. Normal cost for the buffet is $20 per person...use this two-fer coupon, and you have saved the cost of this book and MADE a few dollars.
You can't go wrong with this book - I love it and buy it every year!!

I get this book every year and find it to be a great source of savings. However, this years edition requires you when using the coupons to comply with a new condition printed on the coupon. It states: "Offer void if detached from book. This coupon should only be removed at the time of redemption." The author states in his remarks in the book as well as his remarks here on Amazon that this was done as a reult of abuses and counterfeiting of the coupons. I can understand this and have no problem with this. My problem is the fact that there are three coupons per page and the coupons do not have preforations to easily remove the coupon at the time of use. This is especially hastlesome if you need to use the middle coupon, as you usually end up ripping the top and bottom coupons trying to evenly remove the center coupon. A little common sense and forethought should have been used when designing the coupon section of the book......maybe next year's issue will come with a pair of mini scissors. Other than this years coupon 'preforation oversight' this book is well worth the money.

For the last 5 years I've made a habit of traveling to Las Vegas a couple times a year. When it comes to travel for me it's all about getting the most bang for my buck. At first I was understandably a little reluctant to shell out the money for a book full of coupons to a place I was only going to spend a week of the year at however after researching the coupons found in the book (you can get a complete listing at [..] I decided that it would easily pay for itself.

Boy did it ever. If you like to casino hop like I do just the matchplays and the free play coupons make this a more then worthwhile purchase. This is in addition to all the great buy one get one free buffets and meals at varius casino restraunts (many of the places will even let you use them on their specials - I went to the Diner at the Golden Gate and they allowed me to use their buy one get one free on their prime rib special - 7 [..] for 2 prime rib dinners with the works... talk about a deal !)

Other features in the book such as basic overviews on different casino games, a pretty good map of casinos on the strip, near the strip, and downtown along with contact info for each casino and other details are also pretty helpful.

I've already ordered my copy for 09 and will continue to do so for each subsequent year that I take a trip to Vegas.

This is a great purchase.

ACG-2008 continues as an outstanding buy, in particular for a LV resident. The casino food 2fers' pay for themselves in a short time and anything else (hotel room reservations and auto rentals for visitors, etc) are always useful. Most residents buy 10 or more books. You just can't beat the value. stanleyjoel

A "must have" book for anyone planning a trip to Las Vegas. A great reference source for casinos anywhere in the USA, but with tremendous amount of information on Las Vegas (things to see, things to do, best deals, etc.). Section in the back of the book contains dozens of discount coupons for rooms, food, sight seeing, gaming, etc., that can pay for the book many times over, in most cases.

One earlier review talks about coupons void if removed from the American Casino Guide book. That is inaccurate. Perhaps he has this book mixed up with some other book. In the middle of the book there is an identify card, which if signed and in your wallet, allows you to redeem the coupons. We carry our coupons right in our wallet like cash.
There is a problem that some places require two people for a food deal. However, others will allow 50% off solo purchases.
The gambling coupons are great. Matchplays give the gambler a one play huge advantage. Put $25 and the Sahara matchplay on the craps table just for one roll, and if you win, you get paid $50. Hop from one casino to another and make a bet here or there and you have the advantage all the way.
For someone who has not gone to Vegas yet, there are great chances for free money if you sign up for the casino card. So you can play $10 and lose nothing. It is a great deal for folks with no gambling bankroll but a taste for just having a little fun. And for everyone it stretches out the bankroll. My son on his first frugal trip won over $300 dollars playing matchplays and using other coupons. One of my son's girlfriends started with $5 freeplay at the Silverton and no money. She left Vegas with $50 profit with none of her own money ever risked.
Just playing at Ellis Island will return to you the cost of the book. There you can get 4 free drinks, including their popular microbrew, play a matchplay, and get 50% off anything that is printed on the menu. Good, inexpensive food here too. I usually use the coupon for the prime rib.
