Pays For Itself,
By Cherokee Villager "Jim" (Northeast Arkansas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: American Casino Guide, 2005 (Paperback)
Sure, you can find some of the info on the web, but surely the free coupons (especially the buffet) will pay for the book several times over. And the coupons aren't just for "over the hill" casino's......I was very pleased with the coupons included in the book.

For both casual casino visitors and people with a yearning,
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: American Casino Guide - 2002 Edition (Paperback)
Now in a newly updated 2002 edition, the American Casino Guide is a superbly presented and highly recommended reference for both casual casino visitors and people with a yearning to learn more about the games and their odds. From a comparison of the house edge in different casino games to a brief study and focus upon individual games such as slot clubs, slot machines, video poker, blackjack, craps, roulette, and much more, to a state-by-state listing of the best casinos, American Casino Guide has it all. The 2002 edition pays for itself not only in terms of strategies to improve one's gaming skills, but also in more than $1000 worth of valuable casino coupons that can be clipped out of the book itself! If you are planning a visit to the gaming tables of Atlantic City or Las Vegas, begin with the 2002 edition of the American Casino Guide!

NOT just a compiled list of addresses and phone numbers!,
By A Customer
This review is from: American Casino Guide 2001 (Paperback)
This book was much more than what I had expected! There are almost 200 pages of useful information on gambling, tips, strategies, best bets, etc. They don't just rehash the rules on how to play the casino games...but actually cover the proper winning techniques in detail (the things you need to know). They cover almost all the games...Slot clubs, Video Poker, Blackjack, Craps, Roulette and Baccarat. They also cover comps and lots of other tips to save you money on your overall expenses (all-right...more money for gambling!). The price is cheap considering all the information that is packed in to this book.

Great Book,

We live in the Las Vegas area & could only be considered modest gamblers yet feel the book well worth owning. We buy several using them primarily when having visitors, an incentive to visit the many casinos for dining, shows & maybe some free slot play for your friends when they sign up for the players card. They are always impressed!

Valuable Resource,
This review is from: American Casino Guide (Paperback)
The "American Casino Guide" is a valuble resource for quickly locating the best places to gamble. Why waste your time checking out places that don't offer you the best games and are merely looking to rip you off? This book can save you a lot of leg work, aggravation and money. For this book to be of any real use to you, you need to read it carefully, make notes as you go and read between the lines. The group who assembled this guide apparently wanted to be very careful to avoid offending any of the casino owners or operators. The information you need is all there, but it needs some interpretation, and you will have to use some judgement about the games you play. Although their information on how to play the various games is essentially sound, they don't really distinguish between games that are worth playing and those that will eat your lunch. For that kind of information, you should read some of the books that have a more critical point of view, such as: How To Gamble At The Casinos Without Getting Plucked Like A Chicken by James Harrison Ford or Getting the Best of It by David Sklansky. Although you can develop the information that this book offers on your own, buying and reading this book will be money and time well spent. Just one visit to a casino that doesn't give you the best odds can cost a lot more than the price of this book.

If you are going to gaming sites, buy this book.,
This review is from: American Casino Guide, 2005 (Paperback)
The coupons are great, two for ones, etc. on food, rooms and entertainment. The book also suggests the best ways to gamble, if there is such a thing. Well worth the money.

As good as this is as a guide to Las Vegas, it's really a smart gambler's guide, plus map and info on all the casinos in the whole country AND the coupons.
Pays for itself quickly using the match play coupons and even faster if you can use all the 2-for-1 coupons. Bought a copy in 2005 for my last trip to Vegas, so for me it's mostly the new coupons. For my sister-in-law who is going to Vegas next week, it's such a hit that they bought 6 more copies for the other couples traveling with them.

I Liked the Coupons,
By QBS "Quality Bargain Shopper" (Private) - See all my reviews
This review is from: American Casino Guide (Paperback)
Well, yes I did check out the coupon list before purchasing the book - I would agree with that recommendation. However, I actually used the 2 for 1 coupon for the Silverton buffet and was able to enjoy melt in your mouth prime rib, roast pork, roast turkey, jumbo peel shrimp and Alaskan king crab legs for $8.99, so I appreciated having the coupon because without it I'd have never bothered to venture off the strip. I didn't try any of the other buffets so I can't comment on their quality, but I thought the Silverton buffet was better quality than the one at MGM that I ate a couple of years ago - it was kind of a throwback to the days where casinos used to offer high-quality food for ridiculously cheap prices to get people to come visit their casinos. So for that reason I thought this book was a bargain. But yes, I would recommend checking out the coupons first, and it probably is better-suited for people who intend to rent a car. It's only $12 so if you plan on using at least 2 coupons the book ought to pretty much pay for itself :)
