The American Community College,
By
This review is from: The American Community College (Jossey-Bass Higher and Adult Education Series) (Hardcover)
This book is an excellent, current detailing of the state of the American Community College. It is widely used by administrative professionals in the field of higher education. Regardless of its research base and statistical knowledge, it is still an easy book to read and understand. Anyone who wants to know more about how a community college, in particular, operates needs to read this book. The first four chapters of the book may be a little dry, but the foundational information provided is invaluable. The last chapters leave room for one to think about the future of the community college. This book may also be used by instructors to have a further understanding of how educational institutions work, and could inspire one to take on an administrative role at the community college level or in higher education in general.

Full of information on Community Colleges. Textbook used for graduate class on Community Colleges for a Student Affairs in Higher Education program. Undoubtedly will need to be updated as more information comes available in the field, but very resourceful on the history, mission and functional areas of the Community College.

An adequate textbook choice,

Cohen's organization of the chapters and their content made the book reader friendly. This was a required textbook for a "Community College" class at a research university. I would suggest it to other instructors or faculty members regarding the topic of community colleges.

This book is an excellent choice for the study of the community college. Having ordered this book for one of my graduate classes--I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the reading. This book is FULL of information that helps the reader understand the big picture of the CC system.

Poor service from UPS via amazon,

This is an excellent book for any study of community colleges.
I paid for express shipping from amazon and UPS and was left waiting. UPS gets the address wrong, ships it back and forth to their facility. Not good. There should be a choice of shipping agents on amazon. If UPS provides poor service then by association so does amazon. |
