5.0 out of 5 stars The best game I've ever played, April 18, 2006
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: American Conquest: Gold Edition! (Collector's Series) (CD-ROM)
I was hopeful when I bought the two games that they would be enjoyable, having already played the first three Cossacks games. They only got better and American Conquest and ACFB topped them all. Wonderful graphics-even on a slow-running machine, and the unit limit! 16,000 units! Actually, for me that wasn't the case. I put the games on an old computer and therefore I had to stay content with 5,000. Still a heck of a lot of men. But that was on a seven-year-old computer with no supporting graphics card and 233Mhz processor. The units are astounding, and the building are amazing. They appear a little large at first, but you get used to them.
However, a few notes on what I found wrong with the games. Note: These are just preferences of mine, not errors.
1. I don't know who does historical research for GSC, but they gave the American fusilier the highest initial hand-to-hand combat rating of the game---and the Americans couldn't even stand up to a bayonet attack for the first few years of the revolution.
2. The sword-fighting infantry-every shooting unit has two weapons, gun and blade- has no sound. Which is disappointing, because the animation of the sword-fights is incredible.
3. The cannon need horses. Their animation is beautiful, almost ballet-like, but they move so SLOW!
4. I've had several battles end in a stalemate on random map because every time my Indians tried to invade the town they got shot to pieces--and every time the Europeans attacked me they got destroyed. Otherwise. A great game

= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: American Conquest: Gold Edition! (Collector's Series) (CD-ROM)
This game is fun to play and easy to learn. There are 16 campaigns and about 50 missions inside them. There is also 10 battlefield missions which require good stratagy to win and 16 single missions. U can customize ure own maps and play random games. There even is a multiplayer section.
