The definitive collection for LeDoux fans,
By A Customer
This review is from: American Cowboy (Audio CD)
American Cowboy covers a good percentage of the best of Chris' career from the 70s to 1994. It features two new tracks, a booklet detailing his life and career, and several rare photos of LeDoux. This is a must have for any serious fan of Country/Western music.

True To Life Cowboy Music,
By A Customer
This review is from: American Cowboy (Audio CD)
I have followed Chris LeDoux since he was selling albums out of the back of his car to finance the trip to the next rodeo. Anyone who has ever climbed on the back of a bull or buckin' horse will be able to connect with every word contained in this set. If you are a fan of true cowboy music, don't miss this one!!

A Great Set,
This review is from: American Cowboy (Audio CD)
This is a great set of Chris' songs. Especially if you are a new fan and haven't heard some of his older stuff. It features a really nice sampling of his music, from the early day western-style stuff to some of his newer music (a lot of which is closer to rock). If you're already a fan, it's still worth having, if for no other reason than to complete your collection and get the book/pictures that come along with it. Chris has been one of my very favorite singers for a while now, from the first time I heard him, it was like his sound was exactly what I'd been searching for but never able to find. It's just so genuine. And when it comes to singing about horses, cowboys, rodeo, and the freedom out on the range, you just can't find anything like him. Unlike most country singers, who walk around wearing boots and cowboy hats even though they've never been on a horse, Chris was always the real deal. I don't think I know of another artist who is so obviously down to earth and as sincere as Chris LeDoux, and that comes across so clearly in his songs. I've never been so upset at the passing of a performer - it's like losing a friend. He will be sorely missed.
And like the other two reviewers before me, let me end by saying jkopeck9 has no idea what he is talking about. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but what he says about Chris is objectively wrong. First of all, Chris became fairly popular recently, but he is still relatively unknown, so no one is going to be buying his music to be 'in style.' Second, Chris always did things his own way, and if you knew anything about his life, you'd know that he was a genuine cowboy, and that he sang about what he knew. And in regard to the Garth Brooks comment, Garth was only about 14 when Chris won the world championship (a long time after he started singing), and Garth Brooks will tell anyone that it was Chris who taught him his stage act. They're both great, but if either of them is ripping the other one off, it sure isn't Chris. And anyway, their music really doesn't sound all that similar. God bless Chris LeDoux!
