The definitive collection for LeDoux fans,
By A Customer
This review is from: American Cowboy (Audio CD)
American Cowboy covers a good percentage of the best of Chris' career from the 70s to 1994. It features two new tracks, a booklet detailing his life and career, and several rare photos of LeDoux. This is a must have for any serious fan of Country/Western music.

True To Life Cowboy Music,
By A Customer
This review is from: American Cowboy (Audio CD)
I have followed Chris LeDoux since he was selling albums out of the back of his car to finance the trip to the next rodeo. Anyone who has ever climbed on the back of a bull or buckin' horse will be able to connect with every word contained in this set. If you are a fan of true cowboy music, don't miss this one!!

A Great Set,
This review is from: American Cowboy (Audio CD)
This is a great set of Chris' songs. Especially if you are a new fan and haven't heard some of his older stuff. It features a really nice sampling of his music, from the early day western-style stuff to some of his newer music (a lot of which is closer to rock). If you're already a fan, it's still worth having, if for no other reason than to complete your collection and get the book/pictures that come along with it. Chris has been one of my very favorite singers for a while now, from the first time I heard him, it was like his sound was exactly what I'd been searching for but never able to find. It's just so genuine. And when it comes to singing about horses, cowboys, rodeo, and the freedom out on the range, you just can't find anything like him. Unlike most country singers, who walk around wearing boots and cowboy hats even though they've never been on a horse, Chris was always the real deal. I don't think I know of another artist who is so obviously down to earth and as sincere as Chris LeDoux, and that comes across so clearly in his songs. I've never been so upset at the passing of a performer - it's like losing a friend. He will be sorely missed.
And like the other two reviewers before me, let me end by saying jkopeck9 has no idea what he is talking about. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but what he says about Chris is objectively wrong. First of all, Chris became fairly popular recently, but he is still relatively unknown, so no one is going to be buying his music to be 'in style.' Second, Chris always did things his own way, and if you knew anything about his life, you'd know that he was a genuine cowboy, and that he sang about what he knew. And in regard to the Garth Brooks comment, Garth was only about 14 when Chris won the world championship (a long time after he started singing), and Garth Brooks will tell anyone that it was Chris who taught him his stage act. They're both great, but if either of them is ripping the other one off, it sure isn't Chris. And anyway, their music really doesn't sound all that similar. God bless Chris LeDoux!

3 Time State Bull Riding Champ,
By A Customer
This review is from: American Cowboy (Audio CD)
If you enjoy real music and not that mixed up screaming of the the other guys, this is a must for any collection! I've rode in rodeo's that he was performing in, and he makes you live his eight second ride in every song. The energy he creates is unreal! Every song in this set protrays what a cowboy is really about!

Number One Compilation in history!!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: American Cowboy (Audio CD)
American Cowboy is one of the finest compilations of songs from one of America's true cowboy artists, Mr. Chris LeDoux. The mixture of poetic true life songs written during the struggling years of his career paired with the more recent hits is one that is unmatched by any other.

I have been a Chris LeDoux fan since before I could walk. And this compilation does the cowboy singer great justice. Even owning all of his albums this is a great addition to my collections.

If you even half way like Chris Ledoux, then this set is a must have. This has most of his best stuff. From the beginnings to almost present day, the best from the best, you couldn't ask for more. Includes cowboy songs, dance songs, and everything in between. Sagebrush Rock-n-Roll at it's best.

Chris LeDoux -- Always Original ...,
By
This review is from: American Cowboy (Audio CD)
My opinion is that you can never go wrong with Chris LeDoux. He truly is a been there/done that individual, who brings a realism to the music that even the greats (like Bob Wills) can't truly claim. jkopeck needs to do some homework up there in Maryland before he starts spouting off uneducated comments on music he obviously has no clue about. I almost laughed out loud when I read that jkopeck thinks Chris is a Garth copy cat. haha. Where have you been the last 15 years??? I can't believe you would rate Chris LeDoux a 2 star simply because he isn't Bob Wills -- two different kinds of music for one thing my friend. That review isn't even applicable to this work.

Mr. Cowboy,

I finally had to get rid of all the worn out tapes I owned and bought the box set. From histribute to Copenhagen, broncs, and girls, this set has it all. He brings real country back to the 90's and makes you feel like the world hasn't gone completely mad. His songs cover the rodeo life, but he also told it like it was...everybody likes a little rock and roll.
