Editorial Reviews

Review

"Pulling from his extensive knowledge of historical interiors, Thomas Jayne designs rooms that are an artful mix of decades and centuries gone by blended with a graceful nod to modernity. A perfect coffee table book for those who love the beauty of antiques but still want relevant, relatable designs." —Traditional Home

"Thomas Jayne has a gift for honoring the past in a timeless way. American Decoration: A Sense of Place serves as a project-by-project exploration of how he achieves his work, and what it takes to create a truly classical room.... He isn’t replicating the past; he’s paying homage to the very best of it." —Veranda

"In his latest book, Jayne showcases the aesthetic traditions of the past that have most influenced his own work and reveals his methods for synthesizing old and new." —Lonny magazine

A remarkably beautiful book. Though not all rooms were to my taste there was so much to learn! Almost every photo had valuable take-a-ways. Thomas Jayne is an American master. A really nice plus was that the rooms obviously were designed for real people.

A beautifully written and well considered book on the author's own work . . . not many decorators can capture the essence of their approach so well. And, of course, the interiors are beautiful.

If the title on Dutch houses are anything like the three on Belgian design-homes of designers, architects, plus another We cant title as the cover and spine and opening pages are not there.Of course they were too heavy and too expensive to ship back from Australia, so there they sit, ugly DOORSTOPS.We value books too highly to bin them, but the contents are not worth a look. How these 3 books got published is the big issue...in over 30 years as both a consumer and provider of design and style coverage,I have never seen ANYTHING OF SUCH ABYSMAL STANDARD,!!as we don't read their language it is hard to give pub.details, but two,Living in Brussels,Belgian Designers& their Interiors at least have covers...the 3rd seems on Belgian Architects...new book,NO COVER,or opening pages. All three are minus many pages, and what there is NOT in English.
