An American Demonology: Flying Saucers Over the White House [Paperback]

Colin Bennett (Author), Nick Pope (Contributor), Jerome Clark (Contributor)

Book Description

May 1, 2005

Captain Edward Ruppelt was head of the US Air Force UFO investigations in the early 1950s and author of The Report on Unidentified Flying Objects, the first book to look into what President Eisenhower termed "the military industrial complex" and how it dealt with this strange, new phenomenon.

An American Demonology is not a book aimed at research specialists. Easy to read, it discusses the work of Captain Ruppelt, who tried desperately to convince the US Air Force that UFOs were real. It also takes a broad look at the politics of American technology and science within the military culture of the era, sightings of UFOs over Washington in the summer of 1952, Project Grudge and the burgeoning media interest in flying saucers.
