5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Nutrition Guide - and a Good Read!
A "best buy". Keeping 600 pages readable can be difficult, but this book pulls it off. This guide has anything and everything you ever wanted to know about food. It's so complete that I can't think of a big area that's been missed. Some topics addressed: fitness, managing weight, food intolerances, food safety, nutrition(all facets), meal planning,...

1.0 out of 5 stars More Food Pyramid, One-Size-Fits All Rubbish
If you like"Association Diets," especially one from one of the most politically agressive and media savvy organizations, this one is for you. One look shows the typical high starch, high glycemic diet that almost killed me. If you are truly interested in eating healthy, this type of one-size-fits all diet guide is just about useless.

A "best buy". Keeping 600 pages readable can be difficult, but this book pulls it off. This guide has anything and everything you ever wanted to know about food. It's so complete that I can't think of a big area that's been missed. Some topics addressed: fitness, managing weight, food intolerances, food safety, nutrition(all facets), meal planning, shopping, dining out, senior/women/athlete/vegetarian issues and concerns.

It is filled with practical advice and tips, and is easy to read. It is a thoughtful and factual look at food. If you're looking for quick cures and diet mumbo-jumbo, this is not your book.

Finally ... a nutrition book that offers honest, straight-forward advice in a format that's easy, and even fun, to read. Although I bought it for myself, it has now become a resource that our entire family uses, including my parents.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good book, December 2, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The American Dietetic Association's Complete Food & Nutrition Guide (Paperback)
Exccellent content for all scenarios for nutrition. Weak on protien needs for bodybuilders, but it is definitely worth it for "do you know" sections revealing little tidbits everyone should know about nutrition. Cooking section is great, even a guide to shopping, very good, a great complement in a nutrition library
