I am planning a Cross country backpacking trip which will take me over the entire southern route of the American Discovery trail and possibly the northern on the return route. This book is a brief summary of the trail state by state. It is NOT however a detailed guide for the trail as it was written about 15 years ago or so and the trail is constantly evolving. It has some maps at the end of the book as well as numbers for several different parks and regional services which might be out of date considering once again the publishing date. Overall I found the book informative and a wonderful little book for small general info of each state. Also my book was bought used and came with the author's signature!!!
