It is a combination of a PunkinThunkin styrene-butadiene cord yoked by an unbridled center for the P35 Punkinhead contrabass mallets. (Shhh. It really IS a secret!). Be prepared to feel your jaw and easy bones rattle while using this mallet. Strictly for the low-end of the contrabass bars, the powerful depth of sound is indescribable, and no other brand comes close! Kids will delight in the sound and bright orange color. As the title of this review states, this mallet was designed to get a big warm sound out of the lowest of the contrabass bars (C through E). Any of American Drum's contrabass bar mallets are great, but read the description to make sure that you are getting the right mallet for the sound that you want to create.
