the size is perfect but the surface is rough like it's unfinished. I prefer a smooth finish and neither the inside of the mortar nor the end of the pestle are smooth. Maybe over time it will wear smooth but for now, it's not easy to get everything out of the mortar. There's a lot of waste because of this.
