Riley Dunlap and Angela Mertig have gathered an excellent sample of essays that cover the evolution of the Environmental Movement in America. This work focuses on the period of 1970 to 1990, during which time the movement established itself as a lasting social force.While obviously supportive of the Environmental Movement the essays provide a fairly evenhanded overview of the issues and forces that shaped the movement. This work is a must for anyone wanting a basic overview of American Environmentalism.
