If you want a book regarding how to pick your breed with hardly anything specific to the American Eskimo breed, buy this book. Otherwise, pass it by. After a brief history of the American Eskimo, the rest of the book referred to generic your breed. I found it a total waste of time.

I purchased: American Eskimo Dogs : Everything About Purchase, Care, Nutrition, Breeding, Behavior, and Training (A Complete Pet Owner's Manual) by D. Caroline Coile which was much more informative.

My husband and I are so impressed with this "one of a kind" book! As parents of an adopted American Eskimo, we were both pleased and delighted and the wonderful insights of not only breeding, grooming and other basics, but at the greatest tidbits of advice throughout the book! We feel so great about our decision in selecting this breed. Everything in the book so far has been true, and our doggy daughter is coming upon 7 months old now! It's great to know that someone understands this special kind of love!

At best, this book is vague. At worst, it's an attempt for the author to promote her own little cottage industry: cute puppies for sale (cheap) who will end up in shelters 9 months to 3 years from now with a death sentence for the crime of being unwanted, misunderstood ... Or both.

This mentality along w/ the magical affiliation of "AKC registered" is the underlying reason there are "purebred" American Eskimo dogs abused, abandoned, and waiting to die in shelters.
