I have two of them for gardening. It is handy and good at home. Suggestuon: buy an extra battory with the initial purchasing.

this little tool works great...it's super sharp and holds a charge for a substantial amount of time...worth every penny.

I purchased the GS48 4" Grass Shear in June and used it three times in three weeks on a small patch of grass. The shears is very loud and cut the grass fine the first time I used it. The blades dull very fast and by the second use, it started to bruise some of the grass blades. During the third use, the blades quit working even though the motor kept running and emitted a high pitched shriek.

The first line customer service at American Gardener are exceptionally nice and easy to work with, however, they are there only to answer the phone and take messages. It is the 2nd line workers who actually do do anything to help you. After phone phone calls in a span of 3-1/2 weeks, and emailing copies of my receipts as they requested, nothing was done by the 2nd line workers. They promised to send out replacements blades (they think the blades are broken inside the housing) but I never received them, and no one bothers to call me back. After waiting almost a month with no action, I decided to return the item but American Gardener does not want it back because I didn't buy it from them, and Amazon only has a 30-day return policy.

Maybe I just had a lemon, but I'll never buy another American Garden product again.

This grass trimmer works great. I have used it several times and haven't had to recharge yet. I believe this is a good buy.

This is an excellent grass shear. Its battery charge is long-lasting and the shear itself is durable. However, I recently had to replace the entire unit because the charger (either the transformer or its connecting wire, which is quite flimsy) broke and would no longer charge the unit. I tried very hard to find a source online for a new part but was unable to do so. The company's website would not allow me to contact them to seek information on a replacement. It seems a shame to have such an excellent shear but be unable to get replacement parts for the charger.

Just what I wanted. I purposely bought this smaller, narrower model to trim grass in between small bushes, and for small weeds, and it works fine. Holds more than enough charge to finish my small garden.

Already had one of these shears and mistakenly bought what I thought would be comparable, one from Sears (Craftsman)). I was extremely disappointed with the Craftsman, so went on a search for another American Gardener. They work extremely well and hold a charge for quite a long time (enough to finish my large lawn area). I not only use these to trim the perimeter of the lawn, but also for shaping our shrubbery and bushes.

I purchased this product after reading reviews on Amazon, like I do for most of my purchases.
Sadly, I have to agree with the people who DID NOT recommend it.
It does not last, and more important, it does not cut all of the grass that ends up in between the blades.
Doing things twice is not on my time schedule.
This product should not have passsed quality control.

We purchased these grass shears about five years ago for the many vines we have around the property. They worked just as they were intended, charged up nicely and held the charge well until about a year ago. So I wanted to find another pair just like our original pair which was 4.8 volts. I notice here they are advertised at 3.6 volt, I don't want to go down in quality so I guess I'll just keep looking. Too bad because I was ready to buy.

Nice sharp blades and smooth action. Much better than my old one to operate. Easier safety switch to hold when operating. Battery time was over 30 minutes. Works great.
