Out of print in the U.S.! Originally released in 1980, the American Gigolo soundtrack, composed by legendary producer Giorgio Moroder, is best remembered for Blondie's hugely successful single 'Call Me' (which was not available on any of their albums, apart from compilations). The soundtrack's mastermind, Moroder, was ably assisted by Harold Faltermeyer and Keith Forsey, who both would go on to great success as producers and writers on their own (Faltermeyer's 'Axel F Theme' being the most significant). While the movie was a huge success, this soundtrack has taken on a life of it's own over the three decades since it's original release. Eight tracks.

This is a classic, not to mention the hugely popular "Call Me" from Blondie(the 8 minutes+ version!). You can feel the indulgence and decadence throughout the album that echoes the theme of the movie. Very atmospheric, seductive and addictive. I remember that I could listen to this album 5 to 6 times a day.
With the remastered recording, the sound is much superb and I have already given the old CD to my friend within a second after I have listened to this re-issued CD.

THIS IS A MASTER PIECE OF INSTRUMENTAL SOUNDS COMBINED WITH GREAT DISCO VOICES (BLONDIE) AND GIVES THE MOVIE A SPECIAL EFECT ON THE SCENES TO CREATE TENSION TO THE PUBLIC . EXCELLENT MUSIC BY GIORGIO MORODER .WHEN YOU LISTEN THE ALBUM YOU RECREATE THE DRAMA .

Richard Gere's coming out party featured a nude scene in this 1980 movie that was pretty cheesy but featured a fabulous soundtrack. Producer-composer Giorgio Moroder put together great topical sounds -- like Blondie's "Call Me" -- with his ripoffs of Mozart's Clarinet Concerto slow movement and other composers to create an aura of eroticism and mystery suitable to the moments portrayed in this flick.

It seems inconprehensible to me there is only one review of this wonderful soundtrack on Amazon. People that like film music should at least listen to the sound bytes and, more likely, invest the tiny amount asked for Moroder's production. The music gave the movie a film noir element that increases its credibility. Dont' hestiate if you like music from the movies.
