5.0 out of 5 stars She is adorable!
My husband and I purchased this doll for my daughter for her 1st communion last month. This was her 1st AG Doll and I have to say she really loves her. She has brushed her hair and has had no problems whatsoever with her hair getting tangled. Her clothes are just darling and well made. Her skin is a bit darker than the doll actually looks but she is still very nice. We...

1.0 out of 5 stars Buy from AG not from this seller!
Please be careful when buying dolls that are not directly from AG. AG has a benefit sale twice a year (3 times if you count their employee sell) in Madison and marks such dolls down a lot! 1.0 out of 5 stars Buy from AG not from this seller!, November 3, 2011

Please be careful when buying dolls that are not directly from AG. AG has a benefit sale twice a year (3 times if you count their employee sell) in Madison and marks such dolls down a lot! I have purchase a historical doll from the employee sale for $25, and from the regular sale for $40-75 depending on doll. These dolls are marked with a black X on their backs as so you cannot return them to the actual store. Dolls with the black X are returns from internet/store sales. People purchase these to mark up way over regular retail price (often times they are missing part of their wardrobe, extras). You can buy this doll straight from the AG website for $50 cheaper, if by chance they are sold out you can call a store (store locater also on website w/ phone numbers) to find the doll in store to have shipped directly to you, again for much cheaper then sellers on Amazon. AG has wonderful customer service that if anything is wrong with your item they will ship you a new one with free return shipping you cannot get this with resellers. Do not overpay when you can buy directly from the maker for much cheaper!

We did purchase our doll through the american girl doll website so we got a better deal and some freebies on top of it. All in all she is a nice doll.

5.0 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL DOLL!!, January 1, 2009

I read the other reviews and wanted to make sure I addressed any of their concerns. First of all, this doll's hair is the EASIEST of all the American Girl dolls my 3 daughters (and sister) have...we have almost 10 dolls total. This is actually the doll I would suggest because it has the easiest and prettiest hair of all the dolls. You have to be extra careful no matter what American Girl doll you get. This doll is no exception. These are not meant to be treated like an ordinary doll. The hair salon at the stores are not for replacing hair...they are there to do different hair styles. You can send the doll in to the doll hospital to get a head replacement to get new hair for your doll. The doll's wig can not be replaced without replacing the head.

My 6 year old has wanted an American Girl doll for over a year now. We bought Target's version much cheaper last year (Our Generation) for her to practice taking care of first. These dolls are high quality and are meant to be collectables and therefore need to be treated as so. There is a reason they are so expensive and popular...they are really wonderful dolls. Julie comes with a some neat accessories, but I agree with the other sellers...buy her from American Girl. The prices are inflated because people don't check the real site. I'd check there first and go from there.

Julie has the softest and most amazing hair I have ever seen. The other dolls' hair can be rather hard to handle, but I use a spray bottle with water and the American Girl wire brush. I have braided the other doll's hair to keep it nice when the girls are not playing with them. Julie's hair is quite an exception...it is long, soft and staight. Her hair feels the most like real hair out of any doll's hair I have ever felt.

My daughter who is 6 years old absolutely loves this American Girl doll! She loves the long beautiful hair that she can comb and arrange in different styles and she also adores all her pretty clothing. She has had lots of fun with Julie and she is looking forward to have more playtime with her. It has also been wonderful for her to share this doll with her friends.

1.0 out of 5 stars American Girl Dolls are Overrated! Save Your Money!!, January 27, 2008
= Durability:1.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars

I seriously don't know what all the rage is about with American Girl dolls! I bought this doll for my daughter and inside of two months it looks just terrible. The first day home my daughter, who loves to style all of her dolls' hair, brushed and styled Julie with the special AG doll hair kit that I also bought. Gobs of hair fell out immediately and has never stopped. The hair is the poorest quality I've seen on any doll, let alone a high end doll like AG is supposed to be. After only two months her hair looks and feels like the worst grandma wig in recent memory. My daughter is very careful with her dolls and lives to style their hair. Her dolls like Bratz and Barbie do a good enough job of maintaining their quality--nothing like the poor quality of this AG doll. I purchased this doll directly from AG and spent in excess of $120 for it and the hair accessories. As far as I am concerned, it is money down the toilet. AG has a doll hair salon, and now I know why--they need it AND a miracle! I don't usually write product reviews (though I find them helpful to read), but in this case I felt compelled to. If your little one likes to do dolly hair, then skip this doll and save your money. You can spend a lot less and probably get better results with a bargain doll.

American Girl Dolls --

American Girl doesn't tell you that if you buy a historical doll, even though they are brand new,

you do not get the codes for [...]. Beware, its a ripoff.

To actually play on-line you have to either buy a new doll, and they are expensive,

or use their free intro offer which has nothing on offer.
