A replica of the tree house in the American Girl movie, this doll-sized version features a faux stained-glass window, a roomy balcony, and a chandelier with multicolored beads on the ceiling. Includes a lantern with glow-in-the-dark lightning bugs, self-adhesive photos for Kit's heroes, and a rope and a bucket made to lift Kit's dog, Grace, up on the balcony too! American Girl. Ages: 8+
This was a pricey purchase but OMG it is large! Made for 18" dolls, it can fit 2 on the deck and another 2 inside. This is nicely detailed, the tree is very beautiful. True to the movie. This is nice enough to be something I know my daughter will hold onto and pass down to her children. I would suggest this for ages 7 and up. It's pretty durable but smaller children tend to be a bit rough on the tree limbs and want to climb and it won't tolerate that kind of rough-housing. This is the first thing children run to play with when they visit - lots of imaginative play even beyond the Kit Kitteridge character. My daughter went through a Bindi the Jungle Girl (Steve Irwin) phase and this was a safari tree house, it's been a tea tree house.... you can easily pay nearly this much on a much lesser quality doll house for Barbies or smaller but it won't last and it will be easily outgrown - this is something that for several years now has provided us with lots and lots of play!
