Product Description

Meet McKenna, our 2012 Girl of the Year! She's a determined girl who uses her strengths to turn challenges into triumphs. The McKenna doll is 18" tall, with brilliant blue eyes that open and close. She has long, caramel-colored hair that can be pulled high for gymnastics practice, or styled up in twists for a fancy occasion.

I wanted to wait and buy her one for her 7th birthday but since this is the year for the McKenna doll I had to purchase.

We were happy to get the doll even though it was sold out by the original company.

American Girl products are well made. I still have my dolls and clothes from over twenty years ago, and they are still in good condition. I have purchased the dolls, clothing, and accessories for my daughter. They hold up in the washer and stand up to the abuses kids throw their way. (BTW, I don't dry them.) However, this is pretty over-priced. I could get the same thing through the American Girl website for $125.52 including tax and standard shipping.

Wanted this doll for my daughters 8th birthday coming up soon. The AG stores are on back order. Doll and book are only $105 strait from the store. I thought I could buy this one since it would be on time for her birthday, but NO WAY. What a rotton markup. Shameful. My daughter will just have to wait till Christmas.

Good product but extremely overpriced! The McKenna doll and book is only $105 in the American Girl Store! People don't be fooled with this!

Since most of the reviews for McKenna and her book discuss the price, I'm going to review the product itself. We got it directly from the American Girl store and paid $105. My daughter saved all year to buy this and we are now the proud owners of two AG dolls. Though I think even the AG price is insane, girls love this franchise. The American Girl marketers are GENIUS.

Anyhoo, McKenna herself is a well-made doll. Her eyes open and close depending on if she's standing or lying down. She is sturdy, with well-stitched clothes and smooth, silky hair that is easily brushed (I never knew this was important when I got my daughter the curly-haired Kanani for Christmas last year, but whoa-boy, get your girl a doll with easy-to-brush hair. Crucial!) The gymnast angle is also a draw for girls of this age.

My daughter is sitting here dictating to me now and telling me that her leggings are a little hard to get on, but the rest of the clothes are nice.

We really like the American Girl stories (even my husband thinks they're good). They're wholesome but with realistic conflicts and resolutions. McKenna is a likable story, too, with the added bonus of a broken leg, rather than some sort of scary villain, being one of McKenna's major problems.

If you're looking for a wholesome, well-made, albeit expensive toy for a girl first to fifth grade, this is a good one.

My daughter asked for this doll for her birthday. I purchased it from the AG website and paid a lot less than the price on here. The doll is really cute, and I love the fact that there are so many different clothes and accessories that can be bought. This enhances a child's imagination. So many toys these days don't last. I know that the American Girl doll line will last, and will be able to be past down to my daugthers children.

I not only bought McKenna (the doll) but also purchased her bed, her dog, the crutches, cast, gymnastics equipment, and all of her workout clothes. Everything is very well made and looks very realistic. I can't belive the detail that AG puts into their products. I'll be giving the doll to my daughter early because her birthday is 2 days after Christmas. I bought the bed, gymnastics equipment, etc. for her for Christmas, but can't very well let her open all that without her first getting McKenna.

I also bought 2 matching outfits for my daughter and McKenna. These are cute, but way overpriced for what you get, but I figure she's only little once, and having these memories are worth it to me.

The starter collection is 185.00. The doll and book is 105. That list price is a complete joke. You're better off going to the store
