Book Description

The summer after graduation is supposed to be that first real taste of freedom - but not for eighteen-year-old Chloe Branson. Just as that breeze of freedom is making its way into her galaxy, her secret-service-agent dad drops a meteor-sized bomb of bad news on her and her sisters. An attempt has been made on the lives of Canadian boyband, Spaceships Around Saturn, during their USA tour, and the guys have to go into hiding ASAP. The only problem? In the midst of the crisis and media frenzy, their dad volunteered to hide the guys...in their house.

Six-year-old Emery is as ecstatic as any self-proclaimed Saturnite would be, but Chloe and her seventeen-year-old sister Aralie watch their summer plans crash and burn like a falling star. The SAS guys aren't happy with the situation, either. Bad boy Jules picks fights with Aralie about everything from his Twitter followers to his laundry, and heart-throb Benji can't escape Emery's fangirlisms for more than three minutes.

But after the super-cute Milo kisses Chloe during a game of hide-and-seek, she finally understands what Emery means when she talks about SAS being "out of this world." If this is what Saturn feels like, Chloe doesn't want to come back to Earth.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yep, I'm a Saturnite. October 26, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Yep, I'm a Saturnite.

The premise is just farfetched enough to be interesting and believable at the same time. Some jerk fires a gun at one of Spaceship Around Saturn's concerts, and so the super-popular boy band needs a safe house. Chloe's dad is on the case, and since they have a house that's big enough and relatively isolated, the guys roll in.

There's some generous eye rolling and mourning over a summer lost from Chloe, but not any more than you'd do yourself if you were in her situation. As she and her sisters - one a fangirl, one decidedly not - soon learn, the guys are a lot different, and more adorable, than their badassed personas let on.

Somewhere between his irresistible cologne and penchant for late-night Oreo snacking, Chloe is absolutely smitten with Milo, the quiet, fade-into-the-background fifth of SAS. Between the swimming pool, the secluded treehouse in the backyard, and stolen kisses during games of hide and seek, they manage to build a romance even though they're trapped in the house full time with Chloe's family, including mom and dad.

But as fun as it is, Chloe and Milo know a summer on lockdown is hardly real life. Eventually, the band will get back on the road and, with an informal no-girlfriends-allowed policy, Chloe knows her flirtation with Milo will never develop into something more - or will it?

This is a beautifully written, hilarious story about that horrible, wonderful time between high school and college, when your life feels like it's in suspended reality - and Chloe's actually is. Every character is well rounded, so much so that I can hear them talking, picture their faces, and smell their cologne (yum!) Even Mom, Dad, and baby sister are drawn vividly. The romance between Chloe and Milo is slow, sweet, heady, exhilarating, and even heartbreaking in its own way. Chloe's first taste of independence from everything she's grown up with is pitch perfect. I loved every minute.

Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I don't know if I can put this book into words. As Chloe would say,"Words Milo! Use your words!!" Hahaha. I can honestly say I fully enjoyed this book. I loved the length because so many books are way(yyyyy) too short now nd days. I would DEFINITELY recommend this book and I will assuredly add it to my ever-growing lit of favorites.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun read, great story October 26, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
American Girl on Saturn is about three sisters "stuck" on lockdown with a famous Canadian boyband. If you like boybands, music, romance, crushes, cute boys, and butterfly feelings in your stomach then you will love this book. I thought it was a great YA story that people of all ages could enjoy. The characters are so well-written that you'd think they are real people and it will leave a smile on your face the whole time you're reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best book ever! February 21, 2014

This is an amazing book. It is super funny and sweet. Five year old Emery is the funniest little girl ever. Especially when she tells everyone that Jules smells like crushed ladybugs. When spaceships around saturn is in lockdown with the Branson sisters, things get crazy.

5.0 out of 5 stars WHY DOES THIS BAND NOT EXIST???? January 9, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
I loved, loved, loved, loved this book! Didn't catch that? I LOVED it. It makes all my fangirl insides jump around and do a freaking conga line! Ah, the sweet, sweet fangirl language; how beautiful it is and how awesome Nikki made it. This book is so very cool and fun and sweet. It's like the ultimate fangirl dream. (My case would be One Direction and I'm sorry Noah, but you'd be Harry; anyway I doubt Chloe would appreciate it if I tried something.) I loved how real Spaceships Around Saturn was, like I felt as though they were a real band; I felt the need to suddenly put on their music halfway through the book and then I remembered they don't exist... Thanks for that Nik :(
LOL anyway! The book was great. Of course there is a lot of drama, I mean hello a famous Canadian boy band and 3 girls in one house? Recipe for disaster. Emery, who is 5, is mega obsessed with Benji, who is the lead singer, and then there's Tate who's goofy and all and just laughs at everything. We have Noah who is actually kinda goofy as well, although not as much as Tate and he's a great friend to Milo. Then of course we must have a badboy, which is Jules. Aralie, the middle sister who is 17, is a total firecracker and Jules being an ass, he just gets under her skin. All their fights? Priceless. I loved those so much, she's so explosive and so is he.
Milo was incredible. He was sweet and mature and so perfect for Chloe. Chloe is the eldest and she's 18. She starts to get thess Saturnite feelings like 5 seconds after SAS arrive and she gets a whiff of Milo (sounds creepy, I know lol).
Oh God I just spoke of them like reciting One Direction fun facts... moving on.
Lots of drama, jokes, sneaking (wink, wink!), arguing and bonding. It's a lovely story and I'd definitely recommend it.

Not a terrible story but I definitely was missing sparks between the main characters. Overall pretty bland and can't tell if the book is actually more for the 8 year old sister...
