Why in the world would you pay $229 for this doll/book combo when you can get it from American Girl directly for $95 plus shipping? This is just weird.

The AG dolls are fabulous, though.

I agree with the last review it would be just nuts to pay this much money for this doll. As of Feb. 2009 you can get the doll, book, outfit, swimsuit, dollstand, and her pet for under $200.00. (I think it's the special thats why you can get it on sale).

To answer the other reviewers about this price - I'm not sure, but think this price might be so high because Chrissa was doll of the year 2009 and it is completely sold out and unavailable from American Girl. I know this because my daughter really wanted this one for her January birthday and I tried to order it the middle of December and it was completely sold out and AG told me that's it - no more available at all!

I'm going to check and see if the other AG dolls here on Amazon are selling at such a high cost as well.
