This review is from: American Girl of the Year 2010 Lanie Doll and Paperback Book (Toy)
First, I would like to say this doll is a must have! My daughter did not know much about the American Girl Dolls until recently! MY daughter attended an Americal Girl Birthday Party, in which she came out of the dinner asking me for an American Girl Doll. I purchase the Just like you doll that day for [ ... ] with an outfit and a bag so my daughter can carry her doll. This week we went to purchase another outfit and we walked out of the store with LANIE!!! She is just an awesome doll as well as educational! I would not purchase this doll from Amazon as the doll's retail price is [ .. ] I do not see how they are coming up with [ ... ] that is just rediculous. IIn addition, If you are debating whether you should purchase this doll for your daughter let me advise you that your daughter will fall in love with this doll as well as yourself! This is the Girl of the year doll and I would recommend you purchase this doll especially if it's your daughter's first doll! It is a great way to start off her collection! Furthermore, the clothing are all well made as well as the shoes! The book is fun to read as well as it is filled with adventures that your daughter will love!

My first AG doll,

This doll is the first in are collection! My daughter was born in 2010 and we are buying her each doll of the yr every year on her birthday! The reason why this doll is more expensive is due to the fact that it retired from AG Dec.31,2010. The doll is beautiful and like another review stated this doll requires the AG hair pick not brush. You will brush the curls right out if you use the brush! She arrives with a beautiful rugby dress and her lanie book.

When I first saw the Lanie doll, I thought she was really pretty but I wasn't sure if I wanted to buy her. I sew Disney Princess dresses for my AG dolls and eventually decided that I wanted to buy Lanie for Aurora (Sleeping Beauty). Boy I am *SO* glad I got her!! She's definitely not for the younger set because of her hair. The curls are gorgeous but take a delicate touch with the AG hair pick (don't use a regular brush on her hair, you'll uncurl it). At first I thought she was a bit monotone (lacking in color) since she had pale skin, light eyes, and light hair, but she's even prettier in person than in the pictures (AG takes great photos of their dolls, but somehow they're always more stunning in person). I've made a few Aurora dresses so far and she's been perfect! I just have to remember to handle her hair carefully, but she's a dream! I would highly recommend this doll for AG collectors. Oh, and her shoes and dress are adorable too!
