I started the collection of local species for my daughter and she likes them. She plays with them on a regular basis. And it is fun to go in the woods to see if we can figure out what birds are there by song. The songs are accurate and clear. My only concern is for the duration of the toy to produce the songs.

UPDATE: I would now upgrade my rating to 5 stars. We have owned quite a few of the birds for over a couple of years now and they are well crafted and still singing.

I bought this toy for my 8 year old daughter, along with binoculars, a bird feeder, and a bird song book. I wanted t find something a little different for Christmas this year. She has enjoyed the bird very much. It is plush and cuddly as she likes her stuffed animals to be, but also plays a clear beautiful song. She was able to look up the bird in her bird song book and compare the song and appearance of her toy bird to the one in her book. I intend to start a collection of birds for her.

My only complaint is that the song button is not where it should be and is hard for her to press - it's even hard for me! We are getting the hang of it, but another Audubon bird we bought for my niece is much easier to press.

Overall, I think it's a brilliant idea to create a line of stuffed animal birds that look accurate and sing actual bird songs. The kids enjoy playing with them and are educated about birds without even realizing they are learning something!

I usually watch birds when I'm supposed to be doing something else (the feeders are right outside the window of my study), and the Goldfinches are some of my favorites. This little stuffed toy is almost as cute as the real thing, with the added advantage that you don't have to feed it or clean up after it.

This was purchased as a gift for a young baby (she'll grow into it) along with a book about birds and their songs. It was purchased with the idea of education and the parents of the child commented about it being an educational toy. Since the child hasn't really played with it yet, I can't say how durable it is, although I have had another bird in this line of toys and the sound mechanism lasted a pretty good amount of time.
