No, not EVERYONE'S favorite tracks are represented here but this is a VERY GOOD brief overview of the genre. It's a place to start if you're not familiar with Hardcore and may cause 90% of your current record collection to become obsolete (at least until you're old enough to realize that liking only ONE kind of music is kind of silly).

This record should be copied a million times and handed out to the poor kids who go to Good Charlotte concerts thinking they're "punk". Today's youth aren't brainless! They just have a hard time finding the real stuff!

P.S. (No Kennedys or Misfits due to the ongoing legal entanglements between all the former members. Same deal as the movie.)

American Hardcore: The History of American Punk Rock 1980-1986

This is one of the absolute best documentaries on Punk rock ever made. This focus's on the American bands that really started it all and not the British ones. Dont get me wrong, i love them too but the Americans were seriously underrated after the Sex Pistols and Clash made it famous.

I highly recommend you not only buy the soundtrack but watch the film its excellent.

I saw a concert in LA w/Fear, Circle Jerks, and Black Flag. Wow this really brought it all back. If you like punk or want to get in touch with the punk movement of the 80s in the US this is for you.
