Explorer II is a upper mid range Metal detector with LED display. The large screen will display the type of object found with a high degree of accuracy. Very accurately distinguish a Penney nickel or quarter. It can be used in All metal mode Set to discriminate and will give you a different two different tones for Ferrous an non Ferrous metals or set it for notch filter and set it will display the target type found as coin (Quarter Dime Nickel or Penny) bottle top nail pull top ect... You will quickly learn how to ignore trash metal objects. Rugged design and comfortable handle with arm brace. The waterproof coil will allow you search in shallow water at the beach where most Gold rings are found. It can be used in several modes: All metal mode - Just that any metal object will be detected. The sensitivity is fully adjustable. Motion Discrimination - While the detector is in motion it will emitted different tones based on the metal type detected. The signal strength will also be displayed. The sensitivity and Discrimination levels are fully adjustable. This seller DBROTH offers FAKE high performance metal detectors. Do not buy from them. No battery came with the metal detector. Metal detector did not work, either beeping constantly or no beep at all. No customer service from DBROTH either. I have to file a to z claim to get my money back. The fake one appears to be exactly the same as my old one from American Hask, but it didn't work at all.

For the money the Falcon GC1020 is a best buy, low priced, "digital" metal detector. I won't go into all the various features but will tell you I did a lot of research. No... it's not a Fisher, Tesoro or Whites... but, hell it's not bad either and sells for hundreds less than the above named units with a digital readout. It does a good job at finding coins up to 6" down, and the discriminating works well. Construction is solid. I got mine as a package with a set of headphones and a carry bag for under $100.!
If you want a good, low cost detector with a digital readout to start out with, than this is the one. It just may give you the treasure hunting bug!

A new updated version of Explorer is out with a faster processor, more user friendly menus, new audio tone settings and a bunch more. Oh, and it looks like they tried to solve the weight issue with a lighter coil. Just in time for our club event!
