4.0 out of 5 stars FYI
aka Scott Bondy formerly of the band Verbena. They put out 3 excellent albums that also rock. A rare but simple thing, an album that is solid from start to finish - its cohesive but not monotonous. Absolutely so glad that i didn't miss this.

3.0 out of 5 stars Missing Track
Take a look at the back cover and you'll find that the vinyl version of this album is missing the first track, "How Will You Meet Your End?" I love Bondy and my records, but I can't get past this very puzzling omission. We emailed the label and they shipped us a CD, no explanation in sight.

Great Album kinda country, kinda folk, kinda dark.
I love this album, I bought it when it came out and have seen Bondy live, twice.
Do yourself a favor buy this album for Sunday mornings or late night drivin.
Oh and his harmonica, perfection.
I play this album from beginning to end.

5.0 out of 5 stars A deep, thoughtful, creative album, October 2, 2009
This review is from: American Hearts (Audio CD)
A.A. Bondy's first solo release, American Dreams, is a stunning acoustic recording. The production is sparse - mostly solo acoustic tunes, but production is edgy, a bit dark, allowing Bondy to steer clear of anything close to "singer songwriter" status. Instead, songs are quietly led by Bondy's gritty, yet soothing voice. This guy is new to me, but the CD is remarkable in its simplicity and depth. He's got a new CD coming in September '09 as well. GENRES: Alt Folk, Contemporary Folk, Mellow Rock.

BUY IF YOU LIKE: Ryan Adams, Bob Dylan, Wilco.
MUST HEAR TRACKS: "American Heart," "There's a Reason,"
"No Man Shall."

5.0 out of 5 stars Music that takes you to somewhere other than here., October 12, 2009

I have always enjoyed trying new music, something different, but I had not purchased any music for a while and had lost touch with the popular music. I bought this album for my husband's birthday, thinking that he would enjoy the A.A. Bondy sound. It turned out that he not only liked it but he also listens to it constantly, and I have become their fan. We had not bought an album for ourselves for quite some time. We had mostly been listening to songs and tunes that we had been listening to form the era of Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen etc. It seems that A.A. Bondy has given us a reincarnation to begin to look at the "here and now" sounds once again, instead of always listening to our "tried and true" favorites. Thanks to NPR we have also discovered the music of Regina Spector, and we have now purchased the Avett Brothers "I and Love and You". I think that we will be ready to stride into the year 2010, knowing that we can listen to more A.A. Bondy albums. Who knows where this will take us...

"American Hearts" is great. I also love "When the Devil's Loose". Hopefully my pre-release order of "Believers" will arrive soon. I have not seen him live but anticipate hearing him in November when he plays in Austin.

5.0 out of 5 stars Didn't Want this CD to end!, September 15, 2009

I recently discovered AA Bondy on a music sampler that I got with a magazine. The song was "American Hearts". I found that I couldn't stop playing that song! Next I went to Amazon to seek out his CD, and I found that he has many songs I love just as well as "American Hearts". If you like great acoustic melodies with intelligent lyrics, you will love this album. Oh, and Bondy's voice is very appealing too.

what can I say...great album. Vice Rag is a song that pretty much everyone loves and I gotta say Scott can wail on the harmonica. He's even better live so go catch him while you can!!
