1.0 out of 5 stars Dumb words, February 1, 2005
This review is from: American Heritage Dictionary: Word-A-Day 2005 Calendar (Calendar)
I have used calendars like this for several years to try to build the vocabularies of my teenage children. This particular one bombed for me. 80% of the words are words I have never seen before, with many of them literally being "obsolete," in the words of the calendar. The definitions are lacking, and they rarely provide examples of how to use the word in a sentence.

I bought this calendar hoping to increase my vocabulary, but words such as "bonkers" and "whatchamacallit" are listed. Next year, I'm planning to buy Merriam-Webster's version.
