2.0 out of 5 stars Take a step back women's liberation!
Let me start out by saying that I do not particularly consider myself to be an advocate of women's lib. However, this novel seemed to throw the concept that a woman does, in fact, have a brain in her head back to the Stone Age. I did not like how Riley treated Red. And I like even less how Red didn't stand up for herself. This is the stereotypical romance novel with...

4.0 out of 5 stars Another Lori Foster winner.., June 20, 2003
This review is from: American Heroes: Riley (Mass Market Paperback)
There are some authors that you know always write engaging novels that you cannot go wrong with- Lori Foster is one of them. The Men of Courage series introduced Riley and Regina and finally Riley has his own story.

Riley is an ex Swat team member who runs a gym as well as works as an evidence technician. He meets Regina, a journalist, when she comes into his gym looking for some self defence training. The police do not believe her, but Regina fears that her life is in danger. She gets a "guard" dog and much of the book's comedy revolves around her 4lb pet chihuahua "Butch".

This story is humerous and well written, Riley and Red are a good match. The added mystery of who is putting her in danger is a nice bonus, plus the antics of the cute little dog will keep you turning the page. Another winner!!

Be sure to read the Men of Courage anthology first- Ethan's story will introduce you to Riley and Red.

5.0 out of 5 stars exhilarating romantic suspense, June 15, 2003
This review is from: American Heroes: Riley (Mass Market Paperback)
Three weeks ago while on an investigation Chester Daily Press reporter Regina Foxworth almost died in a burning building (see MEN OF COURAGE, "Trapped"). Even before that incident, Regina seemed fearful for her life, but the Chester, Ohio police including evidence technician Riley Moore thought nothing of her concern. Riley has changed his mind because now knows Regina from his teaching her the art of self-defense and his love he hides from her at this time as he vows to keep his beloved "Red" safe.

Riley stays close to Regina not just to protect her, but because he has too deep inside his heart. Regina surprises herself because she actually feels safe when she is with Riley, who she is falling in love with rather quickly. However, as dangerous incidents begin happening, Riley takes the threat more seriously even while Regina wants him to stay away so that the man she loves remains alive.

RILEY, the sequel to "Trapped", is an exhilarating romantic suspense that stars two delightful lead protagonists who heat the sheets of the novel more than the inferno that almost killed Regina in the previous tale. Ethan and Rosie as well as other friends return, but though the audience will appreciate them and the first story, this book fully stands alone as recalls are smoothly used to bring in pertinent information. Fans will enjoy this thriller due to the taut suspense filled plot with endearing protagonists. Any one who has read Lori Foster will be unable to SAY NO TO JOE when he stars in Ms. Foster's next tale.

5.0 out of 5 stars One hot hero, May 27, 2003
By
This review is from: American Heroes: Riley (Mass Market Paperback)
Riley Moore is an ex-SWAT team member turned crime scene investigator who also owns a gym where he teaches woman self defense. Regina Foxworth is a reporter who feels someone is out to get her but the police keep telling her that the series of strange incidents that have been happening to her lately are just coincidence. Not convinced, Regina asks Riley to teach her self-defense. Riley immediately falls for Regina and is determined to protect her.

Lori Foster has a knack for writing heroes who are strong, dependable and incredibly sexy and Riley definitely fits the bill. Regina is very frou-frou but still a likeable character. Riley's group of buddies are great, I cannot wait for Harris and Butch's stories. Foster writes buddy scenes better than anyone. There is a lot of humor in this book, especially with the guard dog that Regina buys (it reminded me a lot of Jennifer Cruise's dogs).

5.0 out of 5 stars Another hit by Foster..., June 5, 2003
This review is from: American Heroes: Riley (Mass Market Paperback)
In this second installment of her Men of Courage series, Foster brings the reader Riley, a brooding and private man who has dealt with a wealth of hurts in the past. When he meets Regina Foxworth, he is the only one who believes her claims of someone trying to hurt her. While Regina goes about learning to defend herself, she learns more about Riley, whom she's more and more attracted to. Suddenly Regina finds a man that actually wants her and a man whom she doesn't freeze up when she's in bed with him.

Foster doesn't dissapoint in American Heroes: Riley. With her normal lighthearted writing, twinged with just the right amount of emotion, the reader will go through this book in a day. Regina and Riley heal each other and their past hurts with a love that is rare. We also get the antics of Regina's Chihuahua, Butch, who Foster depicts as a four pound guard dog.

Don't miss it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Lori Foster does it again, June 2, 2003

Riley is the kind of guy that we all want to cuddle up with at the end of the day. When Regina is in danger and he is in "protective mode" he is fierce and bold and totally relentless in keeping her safe. But once the danger has passed that fierceness transforms to passion and he becomes a bold yet tender lover. Regina can't resist the combination and neither should you. Make room on your keeper shelf for Riley.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lori Foster always Wows!, July 7, 2003
This review is from: American Heroes: Riley (Mass Market Paperback)
Regina Foxworth is being stalked. She's taking self-defense from Riley Moore, who's not very impressed by her progress. So he moves her in with him. Moves her and her guard-dog, a Chihuahua named Butch. Together they don't just find who's stalking her, they also find something else. Something special. Something like...love?

Lori Foster always Wows, and Riley is no exception...but it is exceptional!

Definitely another great story by Lori Foster. In The Men of Courage series, you read introductions of Riley and Regina. In American Heroes series, you get to read about Riley & Regina. You'll enjoy the romance, suspense, action, and humor.

However, this novel seemed to throw the concept that a woman does, in fact, have a brain in her head back to the Stone Age. I did not like how Riley treated Red. And I like even less how Red didn't stand up for herself. This is the stereotypical romance novel with the tall, dark and handsome man making the full, round and in this case red-headed woman wonder how she ever lived without him. Rubbage!

4.0 out of 5 stars Riley good!, June 6, 2003
By
Desmond Chan (Bishan North Singapore) - See all my reviews
This review is from: American Heroes: Riley (Mass Market Paperback)
After featuring Ethan in Men of Courage, Ms. Foster turns to Riley Moore, an ex-SWAT and now crime-scene technician as the perfect alpha-male to cosy up to journalist Regina Foxworth. His protective instincts are alerted when someone has threatened Regina's life with arson, a side-swipe and a near-fatal sabotage to her new home. Riley believes teaching her defenses skill and her buying a feisty chihuahua isn't going to safeguard her life - and he suggests moving in with him. That's too close for comfort for Regina because her jerk-of-an-ex thinks her frigid and Riley's charms has infiltrated all her defenses. Lori Foster's latest may not be comparable to her excellent Impetuous but you know you cannot go wrong with a frosty read that guarantees quality entertainment with her immensely amicable characters like fireman Ethan, Rosie, Buck and Harris. Top it up with sizzling chemistry and the equation turns up to be a Riley good read.
