I picked this up at Home Depot, and if you don't have a Home Depot near you, it is worth the effort to buy used.

This is as perfect a "quick guide" as one could want, with color photographs and easy to grasp textual descriptions.

It does NOT provide "materials lists" or other technical information, that can be gotten for free from the Home Depot computer-aided design service--I could never have built my two-level 16 x 16 five step drop to 16 x 16 deck overlooking parkland without that service.

With this book, I did a 50' by 20' couirtyard enclosing a 16' x 8' wildflower garden that my wife had long complained lacked "context." Buy this book, stop the complaints from your significant other.
