I've had the feeder up and running for a few days now. It was easy to put together. I purchased the remote control, solar panel, and the the deflector. The remote was a breeze to put in and we are making it work from 40ish feet without modification. The solar panel was a breeze as well. Instead of drilling the drum I just stuck it between the band around the top and bolted it in place with the band bolt. The deflector on the other hand didn't work. It was designed for a model before this according to American Hunters customer service. No real loss since it only throws corn in a 6' circle at best anyway. The feeder motor was easy to install but like the above deflector it was pre-drilled for models different than this one. It was easy to attach it with the provided self tapping screws though.

This product is very well built. I have to admit that I was worried about buying a collapsible feeder. It is tough enough to keep out varmints and water tight. The feeder element is awesome! The lid does not fit tight enough for me to give it five stars, but it will do. It is a pain to set up alone, so get a friend to help! I do not like the fact that it is $219.00 now! I bought this here for $93.00 and waited to see the product first hand before I bought more. Now these things have sky rocketed to $219.00!! I'm not saying that they aren't worth it, I would buy one for that much if I had to, but come on Amazon!! If you are timid about purchasing this product because it looks like it won't work, DONT BE!! Buy it! It is way better than most tripod feeders! Be careful about one thing though, it is not bear proof, but nothing really is!! I will be buying 9 more when the price goes back down!

Unfortunately, squirrels have eaten through the lid since I first made the above comment, but the feeder still does what is designed to do. I am not upset about it, because squirrels will eat through just about anything. Leave this feeder in the open where squirrels and coons cannot jump onto the top of it.

Okay, I just went through my second lid. I hate squirrels! They have their whole lives to find a way to get into this thing! I screwed some old pieces of tin to the top and now the war with the squirrels is finally over, for now.
