5.0 out of 5 stars American Hunter Digital Feeder, November 1, 2011

I have used this product for the past 2 or 3 years. This feeder is easy to operate and easy to set. I like how you can have multiple settings to spin corn thoughout the day.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works great, October 2, 2011

Purchased this to replace the one that was on our feeder originally that my husband somehow managed to knock over with the lawn mower and break. It attached using the exact same holes from the original so no having to drill new holes. The only thing I see as different from the picture is that the wire guard is not exactly as shown. Mine is only about 1/2 the height as the picture, only 2 time around with the wire instead of the 4 shown. That's better for me because we had a big problem with squirrels trying to get to the spinner part. The connections for all of the wires for the various attachments is labeled very clearly so it was really easy to connect the new solar panel/charger to it. Was a breeze to hook up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Feeder that I have used, September 5, 2011

I have one of these feeders, and 2 of the analogue type feeders, and I can say that the digital one is worth the extra money. The analogue ones do not have a good clock or firing mechanism, it is very flimsy, and feeds when it wants to, but the digital one doesn't have any flimsy clock, and it fires exactly when you have it programmed for, as long as there isn't anything shoved under the spinner. Keep it cleaned out, and it will work forever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Garden deer feeder, July 13, 2011

Length:: 0:02 Mins

Bought the American Hunter digital feeder to give the deer in the garden something to eat other than the flowers. Was feeding twice a day by hand and as long I did the deer stayed away from the roses.
Mounted the AH feeder on the bottom of a 5 gallon bucket with a fiberglass pot saucer between to confine the corn to a smaller circle. Made four flat iron brackets to mount the whole thing to the post.
Works great, easy to program and has been running about a month on $2 lantern battery. Programmed for 6 seconds twice a day and that seems to keep five deer happy.

Good Product and my only complaint is that the picture is not correct on the unit they sent. They sent older model product with a different varmint cage and plastic spinner.

4.0 out of 5 stars Varmint guard in title is only a part of that system., December 2, 2009

The title "and Varmint guard" could be misleading as my unit did not have that function because the transformer is not included. It is wired for it. So it does not have a functional varmint guard. It has part of it. You must buy the transformer separately to make it work.
They might be calling the wire a varmint guard but both birds and squirrels know how to get past the wire if its not powered on. Fortunately, my old failed unit had a transformer and its not a real shocker so don't expect them to fly off with feet outstretched and hair raised. Its a bit uncomfortable for them but some squirrels still try to get the seed from the spreader and they do despite the shock.
Other than those clever squirrels chewing on things like the solar panel and the barrel the unit works fine. I got 2 seasons from the first one before the clock failed. Old clock type.
