Actually 5 Stars for the 43 minutes of performance I actually program in. Briefly, tracks 2, 6 and 7 failed to meet the my BIE (beautiful, interesting or exciting) criteria, or they weren't well played. It's usually the former, especially when we're speaking of the Verdehr Trio, a group that deserves a lot more recognition and respect for the support they've lent to the modern composers of the 20th century & of the early 21st, as well as for their consistently excellent performances. The remaining tracks passed the test and are the only ones I program in. The standout for me was David Diamond's 'Duo for Violin & Clarinet.' Elsa Verdehr never ceases to amaze me with her excellent technique & continuous high level of play. She's just been doin' it for years - like a Timex watch, she keeps on tickin'.
