5.0 out of 5 stars Well organized, researched and comprehensive, October 13, 1999

This review is from: The American Indian in Film (Hardcover)
I developed a film genre course for KCC at CUNY on the American Indian in film. Having completed the syllabus, I went in search of a text that would be suitable. This book satisfied all my needs. The stereotyping (savage to victim) was covered decade by decade in each chapter. At the end of each chapter brief reviews were given of the major films of that decade. It also discussed in length many of the films I had decided to view. My major objection is COST. Many students shared the book because of the price. I would suggest a paperback edition. American Indian studies is growing on many campuses. This text is superior to any other I reviewed on the Native American in film. A paperback edition would sell quite well. P.S. I am scheduled to teach this course again in the spring and would like to obtain copies.
